Ghost Hunters Thread & Personal Ghost Experiences & other Paranormal Talk.

Has anyone ever watched Extreme Paranormal? It came on after an episode of Paranormal State which I enjoy watching. So anyway, I decided to watch to see if it was any good. These guys are freakin stupid! Who would ever let someone put them in a coffin, perform a voodoo ritual over the coffin and let them bury them? Even if I didn't believe I wouldn't do that! They also seem to be more into provoking demons and evil spirits than making contact or gathering evidence. I'm hooked now. I have to see how this episode plays out but so far it's not something I'd DVR for future watching.

Anyone watch/listen to the live feed on Halloween GH?

It was online. We heard footsteps and voices from the hall with the thermal camera all night.

OMG now that was just crazy :rolleyes1 that guy is a wackAdoodle!!!!

For those of you who are missing Derek Acorah, he has apparently channeled Michael Jackson:

OMG, thank you so much for sharing that. I really needed a good laugh this morning and these freaks have helped to turn my mood around!! :rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

What in the world is wrong with people?

What a nut. :rotfl:

Did anyone check out the new Ghosthunters show? It was mildly entertaining even though a few of the novices are annoying. I liked hearing Steve's lessons.

We have it on our DVR and will probably watch it this weekend.

On last nights show, then the pitchfork moved, anyone else calling it NOT supernatural? I'm sorry, it just looked like the chain was off balance and with it's movement the pole and pitchfork moved. I think they were getting way to excited over it.

ohmygosh......I watched my DVRd episodes of that Extreme Paranormal last night. Those guys are freakin' whacko to the MAX!!!!! The voodoo deal, then the thing in the one epi where they tied the guy to the bed...... This is not a show about the paranormal but about what people will do to mess with each other in my humble opinion. There was not one real "siting" just more "dude I saw a shadow....." and run run run after it with nothing real being shown at all. A whole lot of nonsense. I felt like I was watching a group of boys going into the local haunted house on a dare or something.

I still have a bunch of PS and GH epis to watch tonight with a nice glass or two of wine. :)

Glad to brighten your day. :rotfl:

I agree. If stepping on a floor board in another room could cause a door to open, why couldn't stepping on a floor board in that room cause an already precariously hanging chain to move? :confused3 Why didn't they try to debunk that one?

Well it was hanging straight and then looped around the pitchfork sort of but I had my doubts too. I told DH that the ghost cat was playing with it. ;)

I believe what really made them think that the chain might be paranormal was the way the chain moved. The bottom of the chain jumped and wrapped around the pitchfork.

What I found was weird was how it moved almost as if a magnet was involved. If the bottom of the pitchfork was metallic and magnetic, that's exactly how that chain would have moved. :confused3

Hi all...I just found this thread.... :)

I wanted to share this: My DH and I will be doing an overnight ghost hunt at the old Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, OH on May 22, 2010. (check out Ghost Adventures on Nov. 20th -- they do a lock in there). I also know that Ghost Hunters has done an investigation there!

All I know about the ghost hunt is this: we get the 'rules' and then at about 8 pm they set us 'free' inside the prison. Only 100 people are allowed to do the hunts at each session. They recommend that you bring flashlights, cameras, video cameras, and any other 'ghost hunting' equipment. No cell phones are allowed (drat! that means I can't tweet while I hunt! haha). And they are going to feed us pizza for dinner and then supply us with water, coffee, tea and hot chocolate during the night. No one is allowed to leave the grounds of the prison, but we can go back to our car if necessary.

I'm trying to NOT freak out about it...but I am honestly thinking I am going to be scared out of my wits! (The prison is listed as one of the most haunted places in the US). :scared1:

Welcome TraciLeigh. Sounds like a fun and spooky trip, although with 100 people running around, those ghosts would be smart to hide. :lmao: Would love to hear how it goes.

Oooo! I don't think I would be brave enough to actually ghost hunt either. Good luck!

I thought the chain might be questionable but it was fun to watch and they did temper their excitement in the end with 'it's not definitely paranormal' statements.

We caught up on our Ghost Lab episodes last night. I was not impressed. The Klinge brothers got all excited about an 'evp' from a supposedly deceased actor in Texas who was actually John Wilkes Booth. They were really really really excited. I think they showed one guy's reaction like 4 times before we actually got to hear the scratching sounds that were supposed to be someone saying "I am John Wilkes Booth." They are all high-fiving and jumping around.

I don't think we will be watching that one anymore. I was pretty much done when they started using some machine that was supposed to show auras. Not that I don't believe in auras. I just don't believe there is a machine that can measure them and present it in a video readout.

Also, the brothers never let anyone on their team do anything. They do it all. They have other team members, but if the brothers catch something at a location, they go to the 'lab' trailer and investigate it themselves while everyone else on their team stands around and watches them.

I liked the Ghost Hunters Academy show. Kind of thought they were too easy on the empath girl. She had to promise that she would be totally truthful from now on. But she had already lied to them 3 times that we saw. It was almost her first reaction in any situation. I like the mixture of Survivor personality conflict with ghost hunting. I thought Steve and Tango were very mild mannered about the whole thing. I am looking forward to more episodes, so we will see how it all plays out.

Steve and Tango were quite patient but then they spent a lot of time with Bryan! ;) I'm curious to see where they go with Ghosthunters Academy even though I miss Josh. :(

Ghost Lab is irritating. I watch but they just want to be so "tough guy" about everything. Just like that dork on GA. Enough already! If you do in fact accept that these are the spirits of true people still here, then treat them like you would a person. Don't yell at them to "get out here now" or "in the name of Jesus Christ I demand that you.....". Sheesh! :confused3 Ask them nicely if they would like to talk or show themselves and if they don't, leave them alone!

Dereck Acorrah....what a farce he is. I've never heard of or seen anyone be possessed so readily and completely as that fraud does. I was so glad they took him off MH but that new guy they have is just as dorky. I just with folks would do honest searching and tell us what they find or don't find without the drama. If I want creative drama I'll watch Grey's Anatomy!

My paranormal stories:

1. I was about 18 or 19 and went to a party at a friend's house. He lived in a very suburban, almost rural town, nearby. Anyhow, the party went on and it was about 12-1am, and I was driving home. I had probably had more to drink than I should have, so was going along fairly carefully down the very windy road from his house. I was alone in the car. All of a sudden, I hear someone scream "STOP!!!". So I stopped. I looked all around to see who was out so late and would be screaming "STOP" and there was no one around. Once my eyes adjusted to the dark, I realized that I was about to go off a curve and into a small river, which I had no idea was even there, had no idea the road was curving, and had I not stopped when someone yelled "STOP!", I would have driven off the road and into the river. I have no idea who yelled...my grandmother had died a couple of years before, so perhaps her? But I also have several other dead relatives who it could have been. It was a woman's voice more than a man's.

2. Years later, I am married, just bought a house, got a dog. We bought the house from an estate. The previous owner, Stanley, had built the house and lived there all his life, so event though my house was built in 1940, we are only the 2nd owners. The owner did not die in the house. He died in the hospital. So, we've got the dog. And every once in a while, the dog would run into the kitchen and look up and start barking at a particular spot on the kitchen counter. Mind you, this was not the spot where I kept his doggie treats or anything. I'd look at him and say "What's the matter Ted? Is Stanley visiting?". As soon as I would say that, the dog would stop barking and walk away like whatever he had been barking at was gone. That happened numerous times throughout the course of us having Ted. Ted died a couple of years back, so I have no idea if Stanley still drops in.

3. The day we put Ted down (the worst day of my life :()...that night I felt him jump on the bed and lay on my feet, like he had done numerous times throughout the 13 years we had him. I think he was saying one last bye-bye.

How funny to see this thread again. I posted the following story on it a few years ago. Someone asked me to post an update if anything else happened in the house.

THE ORIGINAL STORY (it's on page 9 or so from this thread):

This past Sunday night I woke from a deep sleep. I didn't hear a noise or anything. One second I was sleeping, the next second I opened my eyes. When you are laying in our bed you are facing the door to the room. Standing between the foot of our bed and the door to the room was a man. A solid looking, bright white man just watching us sleep. I opened my eyes wider. He was about 5'7". He was smiling at me. It was a content smile, like he was pleased. Slowly he turned and walked out of the room. I watched the back of his head go down the hall until he disapeared out of view. I can still picture it vividly. It didn't look like my husband, but that is who I thought it was because who else would it be? I was going to call out "Scott, where are you going?", but then I noticed my husband was sound asleep next to me. Once I realized it wasn't my husband I thought someone broke into the house. I was listening for the sound of someone going down the stairs or the front door slam, but I never heard anything. My heart was pounding so hard in my chest. I reached over and woke my husband. I could barely talk, but I whispered "I think someone is in the house". Then I got angry that someone broke into the house so I jumped out of bed, turned on the hall lights to scare off the intruder. I ran downstairs and to the front door totally expecting it to be wide open but it was locked. My husband and I checked all of the doors and windows in the house, looked in closets, basement, etc. and didn't find anything out of the ordinary.

Needless to say I didn't get much sleep the rest of the night. The next night I baracaded the door to the room with our hamper. Silly, I know. But I figure if something or someone tried to open the door to watch me sleep I wanted to know about it. I have been getting a bit more sleep the last few nights, but every so often I look up from the bed to see if anyone (or thing) is in the room.

THE UPDATE:

What I didn't mention in the original thread is that our home is a two family home. We own one side and a woman named Caroline owns the other. Shortly after I had "the sighting" I told her what happened. A few months later her sister Theresa and their aunt were visiting. The aunt was staying in the front bedroom (our bedroom is also the front bedroom on our side of the house, so she is sleeping on the other side of the wall). One morning the aunt went downstairs and asked Caroline and Theresa "Which one of you came into my room last night and sat on the edge of my bed?" They both said "Neither of us were in your room last night." The aunt swears that someone was in her room that night. Caroline of course told me the story because of what I saw.

I have been on the lookout for the man I saw or the woman Caroline's aunt saw, but they I haven't seen them since.

Thanks Donald...Really for again sharing your story. I love to watch shows about the paranormal, but I honestly don't ever want to have my own experience. I would like to continue to live vicariously through all of you. :rotfl:

I was just watching Ghost Hunters Academy and I'm kind of getting the feeling the power is really going to the heads of Stango. They really are enjoying being able to beat up on the new kids, although some of the new kids probably really deserve it. :rotfl2:
