Ghirardelli's or Beaches & Cream?

We will be arriving around 5pm (hopefully) our first day at WDW, so rather than make an ADR and risk missing it, I thought we would just go hang at DTD, shop and grab a bite to eat, then top off the evening with our FAVORITE dessert -- ice cream!

My question is...which place would you choose for ice cream? Ghirardelli's, or Beaches & Cream? We will have our car with us so transportation is not a problem.

I like the atmosphere better...DD13 & DS9 also bote for B&C.

I guess I'd vote for Ghiradedelli in this case only because you can then just walk around DTD afterwards.

I voted for Ghirardelli's. I love their sundaes. Each trip we spend an evening at DTD and make sure to stop at Ghirardelli's.

We like Beaches and Cream too though but we just like the ice cream at Ghirardelli's better.

In DTD I like the ice cream place next to the Wetzel's Pretzels counter better than Ghirardelli.
Ghirardelli is good. But the last few times our sundaes were like soup by the time we got them. And the lines are always too long.
I forget the brand next to the Wetzel's Pretzels. But between the two of those places... mmmmmmmm

Just based on the quality of the treats, Ghiradelli's - hands down. I do enjoy a sundae and some fireworks on the sand outside Beaches & Cream, though.

I know you said to vote based on ice cream, but I voted based on location. We like Ghiradelli's because we will do that while we are shopping in DTD.

I agree -- if you're already at DTD, going from there to Beach Club just for ice cream isn't really worth the time spent. Now, if you're at EPCOT after Illuminations or otherwise over in that area, then yes, go there because of the fun atmosphere.

It is not worth the trek to just have ice cream at B&C. DTD is a much more exciting atmosphere in the evening with more to do before and after enjoying a scoop. Plus the ice cream is better.

we went to beaches & cream last year and i was soooo disappointed! i ordered a milkshake that was absolutely flavorless and filled with ice chunks! it basically tasted like i was drinking iced milk. not worth the trek!

we make it a tradition to go to ghiardelli's every time we go to disney and get a hot fudge sundae. yummm...

I voted for Ghirardelli's because once your finished there you have all of Downtown Disney to look around.

I tried both for the first time in December, and although Ghirardelli has a more extensive menu of sundaes, the No Way Jose at Beaches and Cream thoroughly trounced the experience of the Ghirardelli Espresso Sundae. That said you can't go wrong with the general concept of ice cream at either place. When it comes to ice cream, I usually try to choose both. Enjoy!!!

I voted for Ghirardelli's because dh is very picky about his chocolate malts. He has had them at both places. He was so disappointed in B&C. All year long I listen to him talk about the wonderful malt at Ghirardellis. We will be there in 25 days and he can have it again. LOL
