DH and I are going home again next Dec and trying to decide on what to book. We are getting a 1 bd for sure, but do we want lake view or standard view? I see the standard view rooms have a better chance of fireworks views, but aren't the lake views really serene but aren't they always in the sun as well? We tried both previously but had a monorail view with our standard view, and poly construction with our lake view. We live on a lake at home so we love having that view, but I almost wonder if the fireworks view would be better for us. Points are not a concern for either, although standard would give us more points to bank the following year.

Appreciate the help.

For us, we always go with standard view to save points (aka so we can stay longer lol). We had a monorail view last time but I really liked it actually (we could also see that little fountain that's very pretty). I think it just depends on if you plan on spending enough time in the room to really enjoy the lake view or if you'll be out and about more often.

We tend to be home bodies going into the parks for a couple of fastpasses, see the decorations, and get some food, so we tend to stay in the room a lot. We do a lot of reading and relaxing.

If you want a water view then lake view is the only way to get it. A standard view might have a some fireworks view or a building view or parking lot view. It's standard for a reason.

We had a 1 bed Standard view in September and faced the fountain, pool and main resort. I thought it was a beautiful view but no fireworks were visible from there. I sat outside drinking coffee in the morning and having a glass of wine in the evenings before dinner and it was wonderful!

we are very much home bodies when it is just the two of us, so drinks on the balcony are big. However, I thought the ones on the lakeside were in the sun all afternoon, which made it difficult for us to enjoy a drink out there.

We prefer the Lake view over the Standard view. I don't recall seeing the sunset from the Lake view side so the sun is not on your balcony all afternoon I believe. However, if your standard view is at the front of the building, I think you might have sun from about noon until sunset. *I have never stayed on the front side.

We booked a standard view in hope of getting a view of the monorail. My son lives it

The sun sets behind the lake view rooms at VGF. So I am not sure how in the late afternoon you had sun on the balcony for a VGF lake view room. It is definitely that way at BLT where the Theme Park view faces west.

If you want a fireworks view you can only get them from Grand villas or a standard view room at VGF. Or do like we did and head over to the Gasparilla Island Grill and watch the fireworks from the table and chairs outside by the water. We know of someone that brings an adult beverage from the room to enjoy while sitting there in the evenings. The castle is easily seen by the naked eye, much better than it shows in this photo.

Not sure if you were replying to my post or not but I said the sun is NOT on your balcony all afternoon.

I might have been thinking the monorail room had sun all afternoon. We had both types on that trip as we did a split stay to see both view types. I appreciate the help. I think we have decided to go with the standard view. Any idea how to best request a fireworks view? Would requesting a specific room be better, like xx27?
