GFV good for kids?

Annual dues is also something you might want to take into consideration. AKV are over a dollar more expensive per point historically than VGF.

If initial buy in cost is no object, I'd buy VGF for the cheaper dues and because it's harder to book if it's not your home resort. As so many more have mentioned, it's easy enough to stay at AKV even if you don't own there.

The one problem with VGF is that it has the highest point charts, thus even though the annual dues per point are cheaper than most resorts, it actually ends up being more expensive because you need more points.......... but I think the resort is worth it.

I have 1 kiddo, and she loves VGF (I actually think she prefers that to BCV). Pools, lots of food choices for both quick and full service, shopping (loves Basin), watercraft rentals, can see MK fireworks (okay, that's me), and since she's gotten a bit older has discovered the spa - we get a minnie mani/pedi every trip now lol.

I just booked a quick trip to RIV next month, and told her yesterday that we were going to WDW. First thing she asked was 'Grand Floridian?'

Hello everyone!

My fiancé and I are looking into DVC resale and are mainly trying to decide between Animal Kingdom and Grand Floridian. We do not have children but will down the road (maybe 5 years), and our first choice is Grand Floridian but am wondering if any owners there with children can say whether or not GFV is good for them?

I stayed there a long time ago and remember it being very classy but don't remember kid-specific activities/facilities but maybe I just overlooked them all! 😎

Thanks!

- David
Did you stay at the villas, or in the GF itself?
Reason why I'm asking: we were sooooo excited when the villas were built, as we've loved our stays at the GF Resort itself - we were absolutely ready to add-on. Thankfully, we decided to "try before you buy", which convinced us to NOT purchase there. While the villas are lovely, they are separated from the main building, away from the beauty & excitement of the main resort itself. VGF made us realize that we vastly prefer villas with easy, indoor access to the lobby & resort amenities (SSR being the exception, as it has so much going for it in general).
While we (excluding my husband) like AKV, all of us agree it is best suited for short stays (great restaurants, fascinating CMs, beautiful & exotic décor, but remote, with transportation issues).
Look at videos, and if at all possible, book at least a night or two to see if each resort fits you & your family. What is best or worst for someone else might be the total opposite for you.

I think VGF are a great place for all involved! Of course, so is AKL!

While I love AKL, I would buy at VGF due to the fact that what has been said by @GinnyBear's_mom. It is harder to book there after the 11 month window. You can always use your points elsewhere to stay with the exception of a few other resorts.

I also agree that you should buy where you want to stay. BCV & VGF are amongst the hardest to get studios at 7 months.

I own at SSR (bought resale after renting for 10 years). I love that they have many pools to go to, that I can park close to my room (we always rent a car) and that it is close to Disney Springs for no park stays. The renovated rooms are a game changer! Oh - and - it was the cheapest to buy into! I felt I was destined to own at SSR because my mother grew up in Up-State New York

Good luck deciding! No matter where you buy, you will not be regretful! 😊
