GF2 vs Grand Floridian?

Disney already announced no microwave or fridge

guide was clearly selling smoke to get the sale

id wager good money we won’t see microwaves in resort rooms as it changes the requirements for supporting those rooms with all the junk you listed off. This increases the cost to clean the room and restock the room after each guest

Adding the microwave is simple. Doesn’t matter they announced. If they have gotten a lot of flack they may have decided to just put it in.

The only use paper products in normal studios anyway so restocking that is not a big deal.

It will be nice to have it for those that would like it. It takes away nothing from those who don’t.

After touring and seeing the double sink, I think they could have included some small level of a kitchenette if they had wanted without the reworking of things…but, I get why they did not, easy flip.

IMO, it wasn’t done so they could renovate and sell in a quick timeframe. They wanted something else to sell along with RIV to hold them over until DLT sales begin and then the Poly tower.

Now, if we see these resort studios in the Poly tower then it means they may be moving in this direction as an option in addition to deluxe studio options.

And, I hope the guide was correct that a microwave will be added. That is such a simple fix. I did send that feedback along with having a king bed instead of second queen. The room seems large enough to accomplish
I agree on all counts. The Polyday Inn build will be a good signal as to what may happen going forward. Ditto on the microwave. I even asked if he was sure about that and he said yes. And it would make sense with that shelf. But...you never really know until it actually opens. Fingers crossed.

They could have changed their minds or have been undecided. Who knows. But, the shelf is in the ideal microwave spot (as if it were created for that very reason) and I double-questioned about the microwave and received a firm yes. But, until it opens we won't really know. I also told the family we can just buy a $10 toaster for the room on our grocery stop each trip (they like toast and bagels in the morning). Not a big extra expense.

Wishful thinking

gfv resort studios allows dvc to test the hotel room conversion but back peddle if sales go poorly. I’d say sales from month one proved to dvc there is a market for a hotel room conversion

personally I don’t give a fig about a microwave, but dvc members voted with their wallets on this

Huh? No one voted with their wallet to not include a microwave as part of the DVC.product.

They included a shelf that can be used for one. That leaves it as an option.

They also built the BLT studios with no bathroom sink and had it in the kitchen. And, after lots of complaints spent money to change the design not long after opening. Certainly more expensive than a microwave.

For all we know they were worried about a supply issue.

All we know is the official announcement said no and some sales people are indicating yes.

That Is either a guess or they updated features based on feedback since the announcement.

Maybe it was we aren’t doing the kitchenette but you now what, that microwave and paper products is an easy thing to show we are listening.

On May 13th when the online booking opens it should include the amenities and we shall see then what is says.

Great point about the BLT studios. There is definitely precedent for Disney listening and making adjustments. Might not be the case here. Might not even happen when it initially opens, but after a few months of guest use, they might (hopefully) adjust.

<snicker> I love it! Even better than Polyflections!
I can't claim it as my own -- I saw it on the boards here somewhere and it became our instant favorite. I even shared it with Quality Assurance at SSR when we were doing the paperwork for our addon points, lol.

Not really. Sales prove nothing about the RStus' appeal or lack thereof. For all we can tell now, sales may be to members itching to get into VGF1 or to upgrade to multi-brs there.

Current sales might only indicate a lot of members wanted VGF points with incentive at a lower price than resales had been running.

What may better indicate (stress on "may") the resort studios' appeal is how rapidly and fully they fill when both current and new VGF owners can book.

I agree. I do not think you can use the sales numbers for March, when its current DVC, to gain any insight not already known. We also know that sales were brisk the first few days, but we do not know if that continued. That price, in comparison to resale made a lot of sense for the add on piece and to end up with some unrestricted points.

I bought for the location and villas in the current building. That was and still is my main intent. But, after touring the units and realizing that it could work for solo trips when I am there only one night instead of the 1 bedroom.

So far, no issue with those 100 resort studios being booked up as people have gotten them. Now, when sales open to the general public, we will see what it does to not only overall sales for DVC, but the balance between RIV and VGF.

Plus, the guides are not selling VGF as resort studios...they are pushing the other room sizes just as much. When I went on my tour, the CM did just that. We are building all of these but you will have access to all the other size villas and offered to take me through those...but I had already stayed in all but the GV and toured that last summer.

You did though, you bought points at gfv2

Oooookay, 'zactly how do you figure buying VGF points, not specifically VGF2 points, indicates any opinion for or against nukers in the new studios?

Lay out your reasoning, please. Repeated assertions persuade no one.

anyone buying gfv points in this sale is telling dvc the resort studios work for them.whether you book them or not every $ spent at gfv with this sale reinforces dvc assumptions hotel conversions work

if gfv does not sell they can assume the hotel room swap isn’t what buyers want. But yeah spending money on an association with resort studios 100% reinforces dvc assumptions that resort studios appeal to buyers

were I sitting inside dvc Corp every $ added to the capex would be declared as victory for the resort studio strategy

anyone who hates the resort studios but still bought gfv2 points made a mistake if they want dvc to never do another resort studio conversion

I'll give this no more than a "Perhaps."

All Disney need do is watch the vloggers, most definitely including The DVC Show, where the near-universal theme has been that no kitchenette, not even a microwave, was a lousy idea.

I'd guess that no more than 1 in 8 potential/actual owners favor the BPK conversion as is, based upon opinions expressed on DISboards and other Disney sites.

I'd heartily agree with you IF THIS WERE A SEPARATE CONDO ASSOCIATION like CCV and IF VGF DOESN'T SELL at all well.

However, the vast majority of those I've seen say they bought/will buy VGF points also say they intend to use them at VGF1 for a Deluxe Studio or multi-bedroom. They aren't the least interested in booking VGF2--and bookings will tell the tale ultimately.

Even DVD doesn't actually know as yet how popular the RStus may be. So, I think your opinion is only your opinion--and significantly flawed.

I am betting that microwaves will "magically" appear in them when sluggish booking or guest feedback conveys that most who already owned or just bought VGF don't favor a hotel room that pretends to be a DVC studio. We shall see.

I wonder if there are no microwaves until they have enough for all the rooms. Right now its one of those harder to get items. Can you imagine if it was hit and miss if you got one? Better to wait and have all units be the same.

You did though, you bought points at gfv2

I didn’t buy because of amenities. I bought for location and have access to rooms in VGF1.

If this had been a new association with no access to VGf1, I definitely would not have bought there.

So, no, they didn’t get my money because they didn’t include a microwave. They got my money because they gave me access to rooms that have them already.

As long as buyers have access to VGF1 and the guides push VGF1 as part of the sales…which they do..no way to make the connection it’s because of resort studios.

Now, if this was a new association with the resort studios and people added on there at the same rate, then I agree people are cool with it.

ETA. The true test will be booking and if they go during home resort. We also know you can ask for a microwave so unless we have data to know how many guests request them, can’t make that statement.
