Here’s the thread to watch for the latest news on the project https://www.disboards.com/threads/bridge-gf-to-mk.3748528/page-12
I’ve not seen a completion date or even an ‘insider’ rumor of when it will be done, I have an unrealistic hope that it’ll be open for our early Jan. stay at the GF - but suspect that it will not yet be open then.

Does anyone think Disney wants this done in time for the next Marathon? Otherwise I don't see any specific time frame for completion. Maybe in time for whatever changes are being made to the park entrance.

Even if it is part of a walkway, still seems it would make more sense to take the monorail TO Magic Kingdom since it is the next stop and use the walkway when returning FROM the park.

It totally makes sense and I’m totally on board with that... however, there are crazy DH’s out there (like mine, for example) who insist on walking if there’s a way to walk there. I guess i’ll see him when he gets there

Maybe, maybe not. Sometimes you may have just missed the monorail and may have to wait awhile. If it's Disney rush hour the monorail can be very full. Security lines may be long. If you have stroller or ECV you have to wait on an elevator to the second floor. Or you may be staying on the side of GF thats closer to the walkway than the monorail.

This. I've seen times especially right around breakfast hours (due to the popularity of 1900 PF) where not only is there a wait for the monorail that backs up into the resort, but there were a few times that even when standing outside, we had to wait for the next monorail because there was just no more room.
I'm so glad to see the area getting a walkway, I think GF might be the location of my next stay. We enjoy the flexibility of being able to walk to at least one park (it's why we love staying at BV or BW )

We are the same as your DH. We got stuck on the monorail at GF and got off to take the boat- took us A LOT longer and MUCH MORE frustration than had we been able to walk from GF. We were super excited to see the bridge coming. My DH has been asking for a long time why we couldn't walk from GF. I told him unless he could walk on water that wasn't happening.

It was very frustrating and honestly anyone we asked who worked there seemed to doubt it would even happen. We actually went on a fireworks cruise in June and DH noticed the crane. He asked the boat captain if they were building a bridge and she responded ‘it will never happen!’ I guess only bus drivers have that type of inside info! lol
There was a similar thread on this topic a few weeks ago. As I recall, Disney has yet to say exactly what they are building. Most were quoting blogs and various non-official sources.
