GF villas?

Any word on dates we can book. I guess they probably have to start selling soon if they are opening in 9-10 months right? What were previous resorts dates?

DVC is still working on getting all of the proper registrations in order. Other than on target to open in the Fall of 2013 and a quick picture of the model room, no other details were given.

Sounds like they are planing on having the resort open for the holiday season 2013. My guess is November. I would imagine they will have a window for those who purchase to make first reservations. Like previous poster said, they are waiting on the state to approve the start of sales. All we know is that the paper work has been submitted and just waiting. Hopefully soon, am tired of waiting.

I didn't see the model pic. Can you tell me where I can find it?
thanks

That has been discussed to death over the past year. You have those who think that since it is the flag ship of the Disney resorts that they will start at $200. Then those who think since it is a monorail resort that it will start at what BLT is at now. I personally think that initial offering will be at $140. That will be the highest initial offering by FAR for any of the DVC resorts. I don't think they will over price it for fears that sales won't do well. It's better to start at a price people think is bellow what they were expecting than to over price and have to drop the price to meet sales expectations. We shall see soon.

Only by way of incentives. The base price will be equal to or higher than the BLT base price.

I'm hoping it's closer to BLT prices. Can't wait to see what the incentives will be.

Doesn't matter if it is with incentives or not, it's the price you pay. I don't understand the gimmick that Disney runs with on incentives. Has anyone said " Nah, I will pass on the incentive part and pay full price." Stop the jokes and just put the price out there and enough with the incentives pricing. To "used car" sales pitch to me.

They might do that but I think what we will end up paying per point out of the gate will be around $140.

If its $140 there will be a good chance we will be buying. Anything more and that will price us out. Not when I can get BLT for less then $100 even though we don't really car for the resort. We want a monorail.

They use incentives to test the pricing. This way they are not always increasing or lowering the price depending on their needs (say, a sale near the end if the fiscal year). And of course everyone loves a good sale, just ask the CEO at JC Penney who didn't understand this concept. ;)

I don't understand why everyone thinks GFV point price will start higher than BLT? BLT started at a lower price for the first people who bought correct? It took years to get it to the current ridiculous price of $165. We bought for $120 with incentive in 2010. I thought people who bought when it was first opened only paid somewhere around $100? I am just confused, can anyone explain?

You have to consider some key variables. First, BLT was the second DVC resort to open in 2009, and the first, AKV, was not selling well from the get-go. When you also consider that the worldwide recession was in full effect, I would imagine that whatever they started selling BLT at was less than what they anticipated when they broke ground years earlier. If BLT was to open today, it would start at a much higher price point than where it was 3+ years ago simply on the back of a much stronger economy.

Another key factor is the supply. BLT is more than twice the size of GFV. GFV will reek of exclusivity, with the limited number of villas being a key selling point.

In my opinion, the current pricing for BLT is ultimately intended to align with the GFV pricing. I can't imagine they'd start GFV at a LOWER price than BLT. I'd personally be shocked if the starting price isn't higher than $165, maybe even $180, with incentives to bring it down to the $165. They are not going to compete with BLT by providing a newer, cheaper monorail resort at a lower price. Just as the GF is the "jewel" of the Disney resorts, they will be sure to promote GFV as the jewel of the DVC system and the pricing will be structured accordingly.

I personally do not see a scenario in which GFV is anywhere near the $125-$135 (with incentives) that has been mentioned. I also don't agree with the notion that they would start low and raise it quickly if the sales are brisk, but wouldn't start high and lower it if the opposite happens; they really don't care about perception, they want to make the most money possible and they know that if the price is too high and they lower it there will eventually be buyers.

I am thinking they will price it around $185. AKV is, what, $135? And BLT is $165? Before we know it, they'll have GFV up to $200. Crazy!!! When we bought OKW resale in 2006, SSR was just under $100 (with incentives) and we thought that was crazy...hence we bought resale OKW for about $76.
