GF Tea Room Questions

Got a few questions about this place, after viewing the menu via wdwinfo's site.

(for a party of two)

1) What does "Priced per guest" mean (in reference to the teas)? Are we allowed to share 1 tea? Would the cost be $5.95 or double that? Is the portion the same as if just one person ordered it?

2) If we share a tea set (also "Priced per guest"), will it cost $19.50 or double that? Is the portion the same as if just one person ordered it?

3) What options are available for the "selection of freshly baked pastries" included in the Buckingham Palace?

4) How many scones come with the individual order vs. Buckingham Palace? How many tea sandwiches come with the individual order vs. Buckingham Palace? (approximately) These are really the only 2 items we are interested in from the set, so depending on the amount we receive we might just order A La Carte!

Thanks so much everyone :)

Waiting also for the answers... I had booked Yachtsman Steakhouse for our anniversary dinner, but DH wanted the kids with us. So now I want something for me.... I have decided on GF tea... I would like to know more about doing everything ala-carte...

Sorry for the hijack:cutie:.

They are not going to stop you from sharing something like the Buckingham Tea, but you will only get one pot of tea to share. We find everything priced fairly at GF Tea and have always enjoyed spending some quiet time there -- as a break from the parks.

Kind DISer NuttyDisneyMom had previously posted this 2009 review with pictures that might help you decide :goodvibes:

Myself and DD14 got the Buckingham Tea. It comes with your choice of tea, tea sandwiches(5 different kinds, which you can substitute), one scone with Devonshire creme and jam, and 2 desserts (our server gave us 3;) to choose since it was our 1st tea) or strawberries and cream. $19.50PP

DD7 had Mrs. Potts tea. It comes with any tea or "magical tea" (chocolate milk in a tea pot), tea sandwiches (3 different ones, which again you can substitute), and 2 desserts or strawberries and cream. $10.50

Perfect light lunch which I feel is definately a GREAT value for your $!:thumbsup2

I think DH and I will share Buckingham palace and add in pate and maybe a couple of pastries..

I can't answer fully but I can tell you if you order a pot of tea and want to share they will charge you per person. Also the number of sandwiches and scones is the same amount (2 scones and 4 half sandwiches IIRC) in the Buckingham Palace as the ala carte menu. I personally always go ala carte. That way I can try different things every time. I go to tea at GF on every trip and it is wonderful and well worth the price.

Here is the page from Allears.com about afternoon tea at the Garden View Lounge. The menu with the packages available and ala carte items are all listed. I hope this helps! My DD and I are excited and looking forward to having tea there on our upcoming trip in a couple of weeks! :goodvibes

So ordering one pot to share vs. ordering one pot each (2 total) will cost the same amount, but ordering one each will get me more tea?

Thanks.

Lol I've already viewed the menu as per my first post "after viewing the menu via wdwinfo's site."

I know all about what is on the menu, thanks!

If you order one pot and share it you will still get charged per person and if I understood it right two people cannot share something like the Buckingham Palace but they can share the ala carte. If you are thinking about sharing the tea I would confirm this when you get there because if you are paying full price anyway you may as well get two pots..
We do this every trip and i have tried it all and now get scones ( I love these scones.. you get 2 per order) and the pastries along with a tea. I did not care for the sandwiches at all... at all.. did I mention I didnt like them at all? Anyway.. I think everything else here is delicious and its a beautiful place. Its our tradition to do this as a first day thing.. We use it more as a snack since we dont get any " real food" and instead just eat desserty type things.
The service is always great here.. and the servers are wonderful. They often fudge things as a PP stated ( she got an extra pastry each). One server brought my DD her own scones even tho they werent on the Mrs. Potts tea and last time they gave me a box of scones to go.. you heard it.. a box of them. Can you say heaven? They even gave me some of the little jars of jam but no cream.. I think they thought it would spoil maybe. We had the last seating of the day so i think they would just throw the scones out maybe.. I cant explain it any other way.

I was just there a couple of weeks ago, so I might be able to help with a couple of answers.

Scones - You get one with the set teas, but you can substitute the jam tart for another scone which is what I did, since I love scones. They come with Devonshire cream and a little small jar of dickenson's strawberry preserves - - delish!!

Sharing tea - I saw several people sharing one pot of tea, along with whatever they ordered a la carte. Of course, many people each had a pot of different tea and shared the two flavors.

Pastries - I think those change frequently and even during the day. I saw things available after I made the choice and was ready to leave that were not available earlier. I saw eclairs, choc strawberries, napoleans, swan with cream filling (later key lime flavor filling came out), cheesecake bites...can't remember what else.

Honestly, I enjoyed the whole tea experience....but next time might just get the sandwhiches and a double order of scones and skip the pastries. Also, I was a little surprised that I was not given my tea in a pot with a cozy, but a glass pressed pot (like a french pressed pot coffee) which, to me, was a little bit of a let down. I couldn't understand it, because it seemed like 2/3 of the people had china pots and 1/3 had the press pot and I just ordered the regular "gardenview blend".

My DD and I always get the full tea which is only $25/pp. This includes everything(sparkling wine, choice of tea, sandwiches, pastries, scones, jams, desserts, etc.). It's wonderful! :goodvibes
