Thinking of doing our 1st split stay😬 We’re doing 3 or 4 nights at the BW at the end of our stay and considering 3-4 nights at GF or Poly at the beginning. At the start of our stay, we have CG brunch and also thinking of doing MKAH-but for the most part, relaxing!

Which would you choose?

Agree, Sugarloaf. For standard rooms, I would choose Poly over GF, but CL makes a huge difference. Food offerings at Sugarloaf are quite good, I still crave the banana bread from the afternoon tea service! The lounge itself isn’t fabulous for relaxing, but it is right next to the Courtyard pool. You can ask for a drink to go and actually enjoy it in right the pool there. That’s about as relaxing as it gets!

If you choose GF, you may want to request an upper floor room away from the atrium, as the sound can carry from the lounge. I stayed in a fourth floor room in corner of the atrium, and could hear some sounds during the breakfast service, but not enough to be a bother. I imagine the lower rooms adjacent to the lounge could be noisy.

I envy your choice, have fun!

While it has many positive attributes that shouldn’t be diminished by my next statement, I am admittedly not a fan of GF SL.

To me, a GF and BWI split would be too similar. I’d rather split BWI with something completely different, like Poly.

That’s a really great point, although the idea of grabbing a glass of wine and sitting out by the pool sounds pretty amazing😬 Appreciate the input thus far!

The Poly is my favorite overall, but I've had several stays at the GF and do like the resort. However, like GADisneyDad, I also am not a fan of SL. For that reason, my choice would be Poly.

Is there any way you can swing Poly CL? That would be the ultimate choice. You would get the ambience of the Poly plus the convenience of CL - easy breakfast, morning coffee, afternoon snacks & drinks, evening apps & drinks, which helps make your stay relaxing.

For my CL stays, the food at Sugarloaf was a little better than the Poly, but the Poly lounge setup was much better. Also, at SL you are guaranteed a balcony or patio with a nice view (marina or garden & pool), whereas at the Poly only 2/3 of the rooms have outdoor spaces. Both resorts are beautiful and you can easily walk between them for dining and sightseeing. You can’t go wrong.

I love the Poly, but I also love the GF and I love CL. So with those choices SL - hands down. I recently said somewhere on here, SL isn’t my favorite CL, but I will always choose it over non CL.

I wish I could swing Poly CL, but it’s $3-400 more a night. Good point about the balconies!

Also, from what I’ve read on this board, Polys CL food is meh, GF’s seems to be much better?

Again, I really do appreciate the input❤️

While I like Poly, my first stay there my impression walking into the longhouse to my room wasn’t impressive. It doesn’t look like a $300-$400/night hotel. Dark & dingy Halls, elevator was pretty shaky. And the furniture was pretty beat up. Half the plugs didn’t work. My last stay had same furniture In 2015 as in 2010. The rooms only Had a soft goods refurb inbetween our 2 stays. However I think the last refurb they replaced furniture.
The grounds of Poly are beautiful, and I love seeing the castle from so many areas and watching the fireworks on the beach. Also like Cooks.

But I feel the outer GF buildings are a lot nicer and reflect the room price point. GF grounds are also beautiful and love both pools. The resort is very laid back and relaxing. The Beach pool grill is my fav place to grab lunch. I also like the room layout better with the seperate sink area. SL may not have as nice a lounge, imo they have the best food. If you can afford RPC CL in the main building, it’s amazing. But pricey.

I wish the Poly was $400/night, lol The room we are looking at is pool view for $680ish. Even no view is almost $600, crazy money for a room as you’ve described.😤

Im almost wondering if we should stay at the BW for the week?

I was going to say, a $300 or even $400 Poly room would be a steal lol! Maybe with the magical deal. I haven’t looked at RR for non CL rooms in a while, but the times we were last looking a CL room on the Lagoon Side was pushing $1000 a night RR! I can’t remember if TPV CL went over that or not, it it was crazy.

The rooms have been recently refurbed I think. But still $600 is hard to swallow.

Yes, there was a huge price hike a couple of years back. I just can’t justify those prices so sadly my GF & Poly days are over.
Us too. After staying at all 3 levels, we find that, for us, it's almost impossible to justify the cost difference of deluxe over the other resorts.
OP - Even if it was the same room category, we would take GF over Poly.

After our 2018 WL stay we thought it was time to return to Epcot area. i think our last stay in that area was 2014! Since we’ve mostly stayed in MK area. Checked prices for YC and almost :faint: Couldn’t believe the increase. Seems they really jacked up prices sometime in 2018. It’s crazy. So I rebelled lol and got a Uni AP and stayed at their deluxe.
For WDW it’s mod or Pop now.
