We just got back from our FABULOUS WDW wedding & honeymoon, and I wanted to post a quick review of the GF Concierge. I've read quite a few negative comments, and wanted to give our perspective, which was totally different.
When we booked our wedding package, we reserved a lagoon view room at the GF. We faxed a request over for a Magic Kingdom view room, and mentioned that since we were holding a Disney wedding, we would appreciate any available upgrades.
When we checked in, the front desk called the concierge down to come get us. We were so shocked! We'd been upgraded to a beautiful concierge level turret room, with a king bed.
Our entire stay could not have been more perfect. We didn't use the concierge lounge as a meal provider, except for a light breakfast each morning, but it was a nice addition to our restaurant fare. Every day, there was something different. One evening, during the wine and cheese course, there were shrimp spring rolls with a peanut sauce, that we really enjoyed. The variety in the snacks was nice. They kept the food fully stocked, and we weren't scheduling our park time around the service, so we never showed up right on time for anything. We often saw servers refreshing the food and beverages in the lounge.
The tables by the window were perfect! They have these great tables for two, with a beautiful view, and we really enjoyed just sitting there, soaking up the atmosphere of the Grand Floridian and listening to the orchestra. Some of the happiest moments of our trip were spent there, just enjoying each other's company and the delight of getting to stay in the main building.
We had flowers put in our towels and washcloths every night by our maid, which was a wonderful touch.
The night before our wedding, the concierge staff left a bottle of champagne and a pink rose in the room for us, along with a congratulatory card.
We enjoyed the little cards mousekeeping left in the room, and the chocolates, and the robes and slippers. Really, we loved everything about the room! We could see the wedding pavilion from our window, which was really special to us, and could also see Spaceship Earth from the room.
We didn't expect the upgrade, or any of the extras, so we were always thrilled with anything extra that we got, like the flowers in the towels, instead of expecting things like towel animals (I prefer the flowers). I think a lot of the charm of Disney is that everyone will have a different experience, so instead of thinking about what the concierge could have done for us, we enjoyed everything extra as part of the pixie dust Disney sprinkled on our entire trip.
Really, our favorite memories are of the simple things like listening to the orchestra play. It was really nice to have the lounge to sit in quietly, without the noise of the lobby below, enjoying the great view, nice food, elegant & opulent yet understated atmosphere. We found these amenities alone to be well worth the extra price for a concierge room, and have resolved to always stay concierge level at the Grand Floridian on our future trips.
Cheers!

Congratulations Heather. I'm so glad you found the GF so enjoyable also. We were there from 7/27-8/3 and found the concierge staff members to be wonderful. I was sorry to hear that others had bad experiences, especially when we were treated so well by everyone.

Wasn't it great listening to the orchestra each night? Most evenings I would sit with my son and daughter having my coffee (laced with a little Baileys) and pastries. My husband mentioned Hawaii for our upcoming 20th anniversary, but I told him no way, I want to go back to the GF.

That was great that they could make this happy occasion a little more special for you.

Best of Luck,
Tammi

Congrats on your wedding, Heather. What an awesome surprise to be upgraded to conceirge!!! Very nice. So glad you enjoyed your honeymoon!!!!

Wow, what a magical way to start your marriage!!!! Did you ride in Conderella's carriage on your way to your ceremony? I took a peak at the wedding pavilion and thought it was wonderful.

May the magic of your wedding trip stay with you each and every day!

Thank you, Carolyn! No, we didn't have Cinderella's carriage; I thought $2500 for a 20 minute ride (only 10 of which Andy would get to enjoy) was a bit steep :) We used the limousine, which came in our wedding package.
Thank you again for the good wishes!

I'm so glad to hear that everything went well. I was beginning to worry after hearing all of the negative comments recently.

A question for you Heather...Did you stay on the Honeymoon Suite floor? if so, what room number was it. I just want to know to see if I can request it.

Your dress was gorgeous. I wish you all the best.

Congratulations on your wedding and wonderful experience at GF! Thank you for posting your pictures!

Congratulations Heather! Your dress was beautiful. The bouquet with the little Mickey flowers was awesome. How many people attended your wedding/reception? Did they also stay at the GF? You have some wonderful pictures. Please post when you have the photographer's put up.:D Thanks!

Hi! Thank you! To answer the questions, we stayed in room #4330, on the 3rd floor. It was a turret room, with a king bed, and a HUGE closet! In fact, I got dressed in the closet once or twice, since it was as big as the bathroom.
We had our immediate families at the wedding and reception, so there were 10 of us total: 8 guests plus myself & Andy. Half of our guests stayed at All Star Sports, and half stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge.
I have complete recaps of the wedding day & the days before, posted on the Weddings & Honeymoon board here, if anyone is interested.
Cheers!

Sounds like a truly spectacular room, Heather. I enjoyed your recaps--I'm a Disneymooner too. :)
