I currently have a Grand Floridian resort "Outer Building Theme Park view room" and a "GF Villas Resort Studio Theme Park view" booked for late June around the opening of the new DVC rooms.

Which reservation would you keep? The price is actually the same rack rate, except I was able to get the $100 off a night promotion on the GF resort room and not the GFV resort studio.

I would go with the resort studio. It's basically the same as a hotel room but it will be brand spanking new.

I would also opt for the new studio right now.

Below was my original response because I thought you meant their regular studio, not the new resort studio. Go with the resort studio 1000%. (Also I voted mistakingly for the hotel and not the new resort studio so take 1 vote off that)

Outer building hotel room 100%. The villas don’t feel part of the grand Floridian to me. They are removed from the main courtyard. I also prefer the 2 queen beds in the hotel room vs 1 queen with a pull down couch bed. I like the decor of the hotel room as well. The bathroom with a shower tub combo is the only downside to me of the hotel room Vs the split walk in shower of the studio.

The "resort studios" that the OP referenced are in the Big Pine Key building, not the original DVC building. The rooms will have 2 queen beds just like a hotel room and a bunk-size murphy bed. Even the bathroom will be a tub/shower combo like the hotel rooms instead of the split bath that the " deluxe studios" have.

Oh wow my mistake. Resort studio 10000%. So gorgeous!

If price were the same, I would definitely say the VGF resort studio - it will be a brand new room. HOWEVER - if you're getting $100 off PER NIGHT in the hotel room, I would do the hotel room if it were more than $500 savings total...

Part of me also thinks, I will stay at GF again in the next 5 years and the rooms will all look the same as the new ones so it won't be unique in that sense. I think I might have to agree with you!

$100 off a night ey? Hmm..yea go with that. Thats like saying your meals included with that room. It’s still the Grand. Next time when the rooms are all redone, you can experience it.
