We have stayed at the Poly before loved the resort itself, hated the room very dated and musty smell. From reading the reviews here I should of requested a room change. Loved, loved the location especially close distance to TTC to catch monorail to Epcot. But never stayed at GF and would like to any preferences out there to which one is better in your opinion.

I prefer the Poly.

When were you there? I know they have been doing alot of renovations there recently, so maybe you were stuck in one of the older ones.

We were there the first week in March, I don't remember the name of the building but it is the one closest to the walkway to the TTC and facing the parking lot. We are thinking about going in Dec. and I have heard the decorations are beautiful at the GF. but we are still trying to decide.

I love both the atmospheres of the GF and Poly-- I have stayed at the Poly twice and hope to try the GF on my next Disney vacation... but from what I've heard and the pictures I've seen, I would go to the GF since you are thinking of traveling in December. The decorations in the GF at Xmas far surpass those at the Poly and the Victorian theme fits in better with the season. If you were going at any other time this question would be harder for me to answer-- I love the Poly as much as, if not more, than the GF. Both resorts have amazing locations and themes-- I have never experienced the rooms at the Poly to be either worn or musty. Regardless, I think the GF would be more stunning and magical during this time of year. Have fun!

We have stayed at both and like them both. If I had to choose, and you want to spend the money, I would stay at the GF. If you get a view at Poly it is awesome, but there are more iffy views at the Poly (parking lots and the like). Almost every GF room has a nice view. If view doesn't count, the choice is a little more difficult as both are really nice in their own ways and both make you feel like you are somewhere special (like Florida).

thank you for bringing up the time of year! I am also torn between the 2 resorts but since we plan to go back in December, it sounds like GF is a definite.
How are the views? I loved the view of the Castle from our roomat the Poly. Can I get the same splendor at the GF? What building do I try to request?

dreamalittledream-- I believe the GF is actually closer to the castle, so the view could actually be even more impressive from this resort-- you don't get the same view as the Poly, though, since it is straight across the lagoon from the MK. I know that Conch Key (especially) and Boca Chica are supposed to have good castle views, although another poster could probably give you more information about their own experiences. Did you see the "Great Hotels" special about the GF? Samantha Brown had a room in Conch Key and it showed the view of the castle--it was gorgeous, although the castle looked kind of far away.
