Taking a 5 day trip and have a good bit of resort time this trip since we are going for specific events. Just me and an 8 yr old and we already have an Outer building reservation (may bump it Outer Bldg CL).

I have always wanted to stay at GF Main building but did not realize it was all club level.
We have done CL at other resorts before and enjoyed it.

However reading about RPC reviews it sounds *too fancy* with families sitting all prim and proper, no loud laughing, and less of that Disney energy/excitement.

What is your take? Is the GF Main Building FUN or more so a place for those prim and proper adults?

We have stayed RPC a few times, but never stayed in any other building there. Personally, I didn’t find it “prim & proper”. Yes, it seemed quiet & relaxing. But no less family friendly than any other Disney club level. They have a nice area with small tables & chairs & cartoons playing & kid friendly food options. There are tables that are spread out over the whole 4th & 5th floors, they aren’t right on top of each other. Maybe that’s why it seems quieter? I tend to think of it as luxurious more than anything else.

I have heard that Sugar Loaf is loud. But I think that is due to the way the lounge & building are set up. And that building & lounge are much more convenient to the courtyard pool. So if you will be spending lots of time at the pool & want to be able to quick pop in the lounge for snacks & drinks, that might be a better choice.

Either way, hope you have a great stay!

I haven't stayed RPC or club level at all, only VGF, but I think the notion of the Grand being all "prim and proper" is misleading. It's a beautiful resort, and there are nice amenities and excellent service. But it's still Disney, and Disney is a family destination meant for children (of all ages). I don't think you'll find anyone taking themselves too seriously, even at RPC level at the Grand Floridian.

WE have stayed RPC with small children and have never felt like it was too “prim and proper”. Nowhere’s in Disney World have I ever felt that way and I think you never should. It’s Disney after all, a family destination
RPC is a beautiful club level lounge and it is nice and open, not very crowded. I would be very comfortable going again and especially if it was just my youngest (7) and me.
If you have the opportunity to experience it I would definitely try it out! GF is a beautiful resort no matter what you decide. Have a wonderful trip.

Agree with @focusondisney. I found the RPC more "quiet and relaxing" than "prim and proper." I stayed there with my DD when she was 4, and we really enjoyed it. There were adults, but there were plenty of other children. The Lounge had food options that would appeal to children as well as a small seating area for children with a television. It's Disney. Unless there are rules that specifically say otherwise, there will be families with children. If you're looking for Disney energy, I've found it at the Atrium Club at the CR, but as others have pointed out, the RPC lounge at the GF is quite large, much larger than the Atrium Club, which probably helps to dissipate some of the noise and activity. My DD and I had a great deal of fun at the RPC. We're looking forward to staying there again in the future, maybe sometime next year!

Thanks so much for the input....I wont read too much into the reviews and probably will go for the RPC!

I don't think you'll regret it. As others have posted, RPC might be a little more luxurious than some other CLs, but it's just as kid friendly as any other resort/CL and doesn't have a "prim & proper" feel to it. Happy planning :).
