Could someone tel me , is the whole main building honeymoon suites and concierge?? hoew does that work? Are all the floors equally as nice to stay on? Is there a band playing at night and is it in the lobby downstairs? Thanks so much , I am organizing a trip for next year and trying to understand how the GF is set up . ow many buildings are there?

We will be staying at the GF in Oct for the first time so I can't be of any great help, however, go to the home page and go to the Resort/Hotel section. Click on "Resorts" and "Resort Maps". That will at least give you a good start. And keep asking questions here on the Resort Board. Thats how I learned about all the resorts we have stayed at thru the years. Good Luck.

Unless something has changed since we were last there the entire main building is concierge. There's two private elevators in the main lobby and one around the back, that take you to the 3rd. 4th and 5th floors. The floors are basically the same except reception is on the 3rd floor, snacks on the 4th and a sitting area on the 5th.

The entire main building is concierge, however, there are only a few honeymoon suites. I've stayed in the them both, so I can give a great review. We began on the Clarendon level. I specifically requested this because I heard that it was quiet. Well....it's 9 rooms on a secluded floor. They all have views of MK, but I don't think it was very good. A lot of rooms have trees in the way, plus it's set really far back from the marina. Also, directly underneath the room is the food court. I mean, you're on the second floor and DIRECTLY below you is the food court with all of the outside tables. I didn't really have a problem with noise from this. If people screamed, I could hear it, but it didn't bother me. There was a jacuzzi tub, but it was small and I couldn't figure out how to work it anyway! I managed to graduate from law school, but I couldn't figure out this stupid tub! It was nice for soaking though.

What DID bother me were the crazy people next door. They had about 8 people in the room. Long story short, I called the front desk at midnight when I returned from Cirque du Soliel and could hear them as I walked down the hall. Someone apparently called them because they all left yelling that they were "going to (expletive) 8-Trax." I figured that was the end. Boy, was I wrong! They all came back about 3am drunk, laughing and yelling "shhhh!!!!" to each other. I didn't even bother to call again. I decided that I would rather spend my honeymoon at home than pay all that money to be miserable. I went to the front desk and was going to check out. The lady would not let me check out. She gave us a room to sleep in and told us to go see the concierge at 10am after she had a chance to speak with him.

At 10am the next day we were moved to one of the turret honyemoon suites. I loved this room! They have these little private hallways that lead to the room. There is really nobody next door except one suite. They're right off the main hallways, but I couldn't hear any noise because of the way the room is set up. Although, if I sat on the couch, I could hear the band play, which was nice! I had a view of MK, Epcot, MGM and the Wedding Pavilion where we got married. There was no balcony, which I thought I would miss, but I really didn't. Be aware though, that some of the turret rooms overlook the monorail and parking lot, so an MK view is not guaranteed. Personally, I wouldn't care, but if you REALLY want that MK view, request the Clarendon level.

The band and the piano player begin about 3pm and go until about 9:45pm. They alternate - the band plays while the piano player takes a break, etc. We would sit in the lounge on the 4th floor and listen to the band and snack. The concierge desks are located on the 3rd floor. The best thing there was little little rack that had menus and descriptions of all the restaurants in WDW! My first day I raided the thing and took one for each of the restaurants I had PS for. The concierge people couldn't be nicer. From my wedding day when I refused late check out of my lagoon view GF room and the concierge let me check into the suite early in the morning, they were helpful. They got me a same day spa treatment. The comped me my sleepless night. They arranged for bell services to move my luggage. They apparently even told them not to accept a tip since they refused the tip.

All in all, it was a wonderful trip. I'm sure yours will be wonderful, as well.:p

Liz,

The main building is all concierge. It's called Royal Palm Club or you'll see the abbreviation RPC quite a bit on these boards. It's expensive, but a wonderful experience. The concierge lounge serves continental breakfast each day, a light lunch, afternoon tea, light dinner with assorted wines and finishes the evening off with amazing pastries and cordials. The lounge overlooks the main floors of the GF and it's a great people watching spot or in the evenings, it's wonderful to listen to the piano or orchestra. The GF also has another building dedicated to concierge. This is the Sugar Loaf building and it's called lodge concierge. It doesn't have the same ambience as the main building, they do not serve alcohol and the food service ends earlier in the evening. Because of the way the building is situated on the property, you really can't get an MK view in Sugar Loaf either. If you have marina view, most rooms will get to see the fireworks though. It's not as expensive as the main building.

The rooms in the main building including honeymoon suites (2 different types I believe), standard (we had this type for 5 people), deluxe (slightly larger than standard, but only sleeps 4) and the one or two bedroom suites located on the 5th floor.

We've stayed at RPC twice and loved it both times. Due to remodeling of the main building in 2000, we stayed in the lodge concierge. I prefer the main building. I think concierge is wonderful if you are able to take advantage of the amenities. We've had so many trips to WDW, that we find ourselves spending a lot of time at the resort. Pre-planners will help you make all your priority seating reservations and you will be noted as a VIP in the comments that are pulled up at the hostess desk. I think that helps in getting a great table or lessening your wait time. We always used the lounge for our breakfast as we're all light eaters in the morning. You really can't make a meal out of the food served the rest of the day, but it made for a great filler. For breakfast there were cereals, fruit, yogurt, bagels and muffins. Lunch varied each day, taco salad, mixed greens with tuna, hummas. Afternoon tea included scones, trifle, brownies and cupcakes. At dinner I saw mini hot dogs, cheese and crackers, proscuitto and sliced stuffed chicken breast. Late evening snacks were chocolate covered strawberries, mini eclairs, mini cream puffs. Lemonade, ice tea, coffee, hot tea and hot chocolate were available throughout the day. The resort has a very elegant and sophisticated feel to it. It was common to see wedding guests dressed in suits and gowns sitting on sofa's next to families in shorts and sneakers. Our experiences with the concierge staff has always been great. I think they are trained to be unobtrusive to guests, but we always engaged them in conversation and found them all very knowledgable about WDW.

I hope all your plans work out magically.

Thank you all so much for the reply's . I really appreciate all the information , and am begining to be able to imagine what is in store!!! How wonderful it all sounds. One more question would be about the orchestra. I am a little confused, does it play in the lobby , or up on the concierge lounge level? If so , can you hear the music in the rooms on that floor??

Thanks again to all of you who have taken the time to respond..Mahalo!!

Liz, the piano is located on the main floor and the orchestra is situated at the far end of the second floor. They play right in front of Mizner's lounge. The concierge level begins on the 3rd floor. There's a possibility you could hear the orchestra playing softly if you had one of the few rooms that would be right above them. I've only stayed on the 4th floor and could only hear the orchestra or piano when we were sitting in the concierge lounge area. Check out the Laughing Place website. They have some great pics. The lobby7 pic shows you just where the orchestra is set up and you can see the concierge level right above it.
