Hi,

As a surprise to the girlies we are staying an extra day, originally I booked the CR tower but just changed to a Garden room @ GF.

We are just your average Joes, will I feel way out of place?

Tell me something about this resort I shouldn't miss?

Thanks

Lisa,

Go and enjoy, you won't be out of place, You'll be at WDW...I just love having tea, make a PS for the Afternoon Tea @ Garden View Lounge.

Menu for Tea

I don't think you will feel out of place. You will just have to try it and see if you like it. We stayed at the Grand Floridian during the Christmas holiday. We just never got attached to it. We kind of bought into the hype about how it's the best of the best of the resorts. But we had to see for ourselves. I thought the place was kind of cold. Even in Florida. It just depends, It certainly has a following.

Hiya Mac! ***wll pulling up barstool next to you***

Why do you think you will be out of place? I have never stayed there, but gotta say, it is ALL WDW...so it is ALL GOOD!

Have fun...and have a dirty martini at Mizner's for me, will ya? :teeth:

Why Thank You all!

I will certainly do that WLL! Never had one before so I guess there's a 1st time for everything.

Thanks for the Menu link Magic! I appreciate your opinions prettiness

I didn't expect to be wow'd but I really loved the GF when we stayed there last December. My girls (13 and 12) loved the afternoon tea and want to do that again sometime, even if we don't stay at the GF. They also made appointments for hair braiding in the GF Salon and the CMs there were so friendly and accommodating! The GF has first manicures and other girly treatments available if you're into that sort of thing. We are a very laid-back family and never felt out of place.

The GF grounds are lovely so do take a stroll. My DS10 gave the themed pool two thumbs up! We stayed in a garden room in Conch Key, 4th floor, and the balcony had a wonderful view of the sunrise over Seven Seas Lagoon. We also caught "Wishes" one night from the patio at Gasparilla's -- beautiful panoramic view (no sound from there though). I would not hestitate to stay GF garden again... would that my budget were so willing! :smooth:

Thanks Goofy's. Nice to hear that . Our girl(s) are just about the same age. 1 is technically mine (we always bring a friend). I'm sure they will enjoy it. That pool certainly looks like a thumbs up!

Hey MAC, if you don't have dinner plans book a PS at 1900 Park Faire, it's a Cinderella character dinner. It's a hit with my girls,as is the Mary Poppins breakast that they have there too. I have always found that if you go in with the confidence that you are just as good as anyone else you'll fit in just fine. What I have found is that the people that are truly "comfortable" financially are often the most down to earth. The ones that put on airs are often in worse shape than we are :) Go with a positive attitude and have a great time! We'll be there starting April 1, when are you going?

rcraw45425,

Thanks for the great advise! I'll definately check out that menu on allears.

We will only be there on 7/10 overnight and then we head back home.

It's just never enough time.

Sorry I'll miss ya but maybe I'll run into another Diser there?

Of course not. You are just as good as the next person. :grouphug:
GF has a fun pool. Don't forget to go to the GF Cafe.

GF is a beautiful resort and you won't feel out of place; however, we stayed there two nights and were well...bored. The highlight of our stay was going to Narcossess and watching the fireworks from there.
We had a garden view, 4th floor, facing another building. I wasn't too thrilled about it because I was worried other guests could see in our room from theirs. If we leaned over the balcony we could get a tiny view of the lagoon and castle. I can't remember the name of our building but it was close to Narcosses and to the left.
We like to spend time and enjoy our resort (namely the pool bar ;) ) but found that the GF just didn't offer that sort of laid-back, exciting, and friendly feel.
I'd chose a MK facing tower view over GF garden view any day.
In fact, for our next trip we're planning 14th floor teehee
:goodvibes
