GF closings for 2012?

didnt know if everyone knows about these....is mainly related to building of DVC villas there??? Poly maybe next for villas???

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort restaurants, shops and courtyard pool to close for refurbishment this year

Disney's Grand Floridian Resort is to carry out a number of refurbishments this year which will impact food, shopping and the main pool. The following dates are not yet officially confirmed by Disney, but notifications have been sent out to guests with reservations. All dates are subject to change.

Pool
The main courtyard pool will be closing August 24 and reopening in December 2012. During this time the pool will be rebuilt to include a zero-entry configuration. The beach pool will remain open during the work.

Dining
The following restaurants will be closed for refurbishment:

Narcoosee's - July 9 to July 22 2012
Citricos - July 23 to August 4 2012
Beach Pool Bar - Currently closed through August 24 2012
Mizner's Lounge - July 9 to July 14 2012
Gasparilla Grill quick service - August 24 to December 2012

During the closure of the quick service Gasparilla Grill, guests will be able to use the newly refurbished Beach Pool Bar and Mizner's Lounge for food.

Shopping
Sandy Cove is expected to close on August 21 2012 through to December 2012.

im seeing alot of closures and refurbs for this and next yr at WDW. This includes closures at Poly coming up also.

thinking there is going to be alot of people shying away from some resorts. Construction and closures kinda kill the vibe at resorts..Disney will not usually tell you of these rehabs etc at time of booking(even if they know its coming)... do your homework before booking. pay attention to them before you are to arrive. They will tell you closer to your checkin time but i bet they figure it leaves you little option for moving to another resort.

I know Cali Grill being closed affected us. Wanted CR but food options got less there for the price spent. We dont do Chef Mickeys anymore(no little ones)....

Might be a driving factor with some increases and lack of possible discounts for next yr......

I would love to know if the poly will be under any kind of construction next year. We'd love to book a room for next June for our first poly stay, but I won't stay if there is construction. There's just too many rumors flying around. Tearing down the ceremonial house? Asbestos? DVC? Refurb for longhouses?

If I were staying at GF this fall, I'd be a little peeved.

You should go out to Tikiman's Pages to keep updated on the Poly.... his site is excellent. We gave some thought to the Poly next year too because of all the construction at GF, but it looks like they're going to start tearing up the Poly..... not sure how much is true or rumor, but it's something to keep in mind. I think we're going to stay away from all the construction!

I can confirm the pool and Gasparilla's closings (at least for late Sept when I'm going). I called Disney earlier this week because nothing was mentioned to me when I made my reservation...it's really frustrating because we are using the military discount and now there are no rooms left at CR or Poly that we can use our discount and switch to. We choose Sugarloaf as well, partially to be close to the pool and away from construction.

I'm so disappointed and don't know what to do. Our flights are already booked and we are doing DCL the first part of that week, so we can't change our dates. And we usually spend at least half the day (if not the whole day) hanging out at the resort because we love the GF so much.

I also read that the Mousketeer club is going to be closed while Gasperilla's is closed and this is the first year that our kids are old enough to take advantage of it -- we were planning an adults only dinner at V&A's.
