If we get in early enough, we may go to MK and then would need to get to GF later for PS. Is it pretty convenient to take the boat launch or would people recommend monorail? Would the boat better accomidate a large stroller? Thanks.

The launch is lots of fun but you would have to fold your stroller. There is about a foot deep step into the lauch and the entrance is relatively narrow.

It is perhaps a 5 minute ride to GF once the launch leaves the MK.....probably less....so it is very quick in actual transit. But sometimes only one launch is operating so that can slow it down. We love those little boats though.

Thanks for the info. Is it a resort boat that makes other stops or GF specific and only runs MK-GF and back route? (Wonder if we just miss it should we hit the monorail instead?)

It runs MK>GF>Polynesian>MK....

You can check out the situation as you exit the MK. If there is a launch at the dock or chugging toward the MK, that will be the fastest. If you see one at the GF and can't see another, there may be only one running and I would take the monorail. But one could be hidden behind the islands as it leaves the Polynesian. We've actually started up the ramp to the monorail only to see one emerge from behind the islands. The resort monorail ramp is not crowded usually so it is possible to change your mind and catch the launch after all. Have fun!

Depends on how much time you have. The Monorail runs in the same directions, so going from GF to MK it is the first stop, but going from MK to GF you have to ride it all the way around to get to the GF. The boat launch services the GF and then goes to the Poly. However, the wait for the launch can take a little while depending on how many they run, so we would do it like this, when we walked up to the transportation if we saw the boat launch on it's way over to the MK we would take the boat launch.

While we were staying at the Poly last month here was the route:

Magic Kingdom to GF to Poly to Magic Kingdom.

So if you are leaving MK the GF is your 1st stop. I would say it is about 3 or 4 minutes and faster (and more fun - weather permitting) than the monorail.

I've been stuck on the resort monorail back to GF for 15-20 minutes before. Stops at the Cont and TTC, plus sometimes the monorails have to wait for traffic to clear before they can proceed.

We almost always take the boat back to GF.

We always use the boat from the GF and/or Poly to MK. It's fast and the kids really enjoy it. :)
