We will be spending 2 days in Gettysburg. What's not to miss? Are the haunted tours really really creepy. My 10 Y.O. is fairly adventurous, but I don't want to freak her out completely.

Hotel recommendations? B/B? There are only a couple of B/B that can accommodate 4, from what I've found. I don't really want to spend the $$ for 2 B/B rooms.

We've only camped in Gettysburg, so can't recommend lodging. The ghost tour we did was pretty tame, so I don't think you need to worry there. Don't miss the visitor center, lots of great info there. The ghost tours are fairly tame, one that we did pretty much took us into a parking lot

There is one tour that is a "ghost hunting" tour and that can be scary depending on your attitude. We took it seriously and it was pretty creepy. They give you gear to ghost hunt and take you to a few places then set you loose in the woods.

We're going back this October to do it again!

we didn't stay there or do a ghost tour but there is soo much to do. Plan in a decent amount of time just to drive through the park, park and get out and walk around then drive to the next site. at least a few hours. There is soo much to just look at on the actual battlefields. From the monuments, to the markers indicating where individual soldiers fell etc.

The headquarters for Boyd's Bear is located in Gettysburg and is a very interesting place to visit. But do expect to see anything being made there because everything is made where else... CHINA!

That isnt the greatest town for lodging, alot of stuff is old outdated or just plain icky. Good lodging though is a new Courtyard marriott in gettysburg on Presidential circle. That's where I'd stay if I had to stay in town. But since I live like 45 mins from Gettysburg I don't. but that's where I put out of town visitors that want to stay for Gettysburg.

The Visitor Center is not to be missed! It's a good museum. They have some Junior Ranger programs for kids to do. Our kids participated in a program where they pretended to be soldiers for a couple of hours.

The cemetery is worth seeing, too.

We saw the Boyds Bear place, but that was a few years ago.

We never did the ghost tours because we were at Gettysburg only 2 times and both were quick day trips, though I'd like to stay overnight sometime to do a ghost tour!

Fascinating and SO worth it. We toured the visitor center and saw the overview movie that is narrated by Morgan Freeman on our first day and then hired the guide for 10 AM the following day. I would do this again in a heartbeat.

As far as lodging, we stayed at the Gettysburg KOA. It's a campground, we rented a cabin and they are air conditioned. One of the nicest campgrounds I've ever been to. A nice pool.

Hire the private tour guides. We were there for two days in may with friends and did the self guided tour that is on CD. At a couple of stops I listened in on the tour and those guys know their stuff.

We did a Segway Tour through the battlefield. Had a great time. Lots of fun!!

When I last visited Gettysburg with my parents we stayed at the Cashtown Inn. It was very pretty and their breakfast was very good. It's supposed to be haunted, but I don't recall seeing anything. I think the last time we visited was nine years ago....maybe less so I don't know if anything has changed. (they do have a website) They are a bed and breakfast and were able to accommodate all four of us. Plus they let you watch the haunted ghosts of Gettysburg video which features their inn. Don't do what I did and watch it before you go to bed. I don't think I got very much sleep that night.

That sounds fun! However, my 10 y.o. refuses to stay in a haunted inn. We saw a few of them. She is psyched about a tour, but draws the line at sleeping there

We are headed their in two weeks! We are staying at the Gettysburg campground.... that weekend their is an encampment right in our campground! We have a large group- like almost 20 people, and we are looking at the bus tour value package. It includes museum, bus tour and movie- painting thing. It is my understanding it is cheaper to buy your tickets before you leave. I also heard there tours sell out fast so you want to book in adavnce!
