Gettysburg GG

Something I would LOVE to do while in Gettysburg is the Ghosts of Gettysburg Tour. Anybody else interested?

http://www.ghostsofgettysburg.com/

They really push the ghost angle in town.

I will say that I have stood on a number of battlefields and as crazy as it sounds, for me, there is a presence.

I would really like to tour the area of the wilderness battles in North VA, thats probably next on my list.

A great Gettysburg website.

Click on http://www.nps.gov/gett/index.htm

This the home page. If you want to indulge in a few hours of history, on the home page, click on (upper left corner) HISTORY AND CULTURE.

When the page comes up scroll down and click on VIRTUAL TOUR OF GETTYSBURG NATIONAL MILITARY PARK. You will get the page THE STORY OF THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG. A lot of mini links are in these historic passages.

This is where I did my homework to walk in the footsteps of these brave men and women.

Has anyone clicked on this website about the 3 days in July, at Gettysburg. It's terrific. You can spend quality time roaming around this site, and the history of Gettysburg.

Gotta bump this for Jim....

There are quite a few "ghost tours" around Gettysburg and all of them are fun and informative. Another thing offered in Gettysburg is Boyd's Bear Country. My 9 yr old daughter loves this place. Think of Build a Bear done Disney style.
We're going to try and be at the June GG and this would probably be our last local trip prior of our July Fort Wilderness trip. Lets lock in dates and let the kungaloosh flow....:thumbsup2

I got super busy at the office and with remodelling at home. I am hoping for a little break in the action between Thanksgiving and Christmas so I can get some plans firmed up on this trip.

Jim you need to fix your location, Where ever my kiwi happens to be worked well. Where ever my outback happens to be doesn't. How about changing it to "Somewhere Outback":lmao::lmao:

Just a heads up- I am on the Drummer Boy mailing list and they just sent me an e-mail this morning about a Black Friday special. Call 1-800-293-2808 between 8 AM to 11 AM on Friday and you will receive a 15% bonus for any gift certificate over $50. So I assume that means if you buy a gift certificate for $50 your actual amount will be $57.50. The gift certificate is good for camping, cabin rentals, golf cart rentals, store purchases, snack bar purchases, tours, and mini golf. This could be especially helpful to people renting cabins.

BTW, my family and I want to attend even though we don't visit the camping boards often. We also own the DVC so I spend alot of times on those boards. But I still love the camping peeps.

Just joining in the thread, thinking we might be able to join this GG (if you will still have us?).

We had been talking about a big trip back to the Yellowstone/Teton area to celebrate our oldest's graduation; but it looks like plans are changing and he is not interested. Oh well, gave me a year or so of planning/dreaming, now I can change gears and start focusing on new plans for next summer.

Drummer Boy CG looks great, and I've always wanted to see more of the area. We have also wanted to hit the Knoebel's park or some other classic amusement park while in the area. Seems to me that Elysburg is not that far away from Gettysburg and we could do both?

I'm with Seabee on the timing of the event, our kids last day of school is kind of up in the air due to snow days. Lots of upset parents last year because the central part of the state got hit so hard by one storm that all the schools were being used as emergency shelters for weeks. They asked for a waiver on the 180 days of school issue because this ER use of the schools was beyond their ability to change - no deal, had to go late. Then schools in Boston area got hit with the swine flu in spring, closed for a week or two and they got a waiver. Most parents in our district took the kids out for the last week or two in protest (and to save their vacation deposits).

I have contacted Drummerboy re. group rates for us and did receive a reply from someone on my voicemail. They are out of the office until after Thanksgiving, so I will give them a call after the holiday and see what we can work out.

Great minds, Jim! I was wondering if they offered group rates. I'm really looking forward to this GG!! :goodvibes

Bump - sitting here daydreaming 'bout next years adventures and avoiding going out to shovel the snow.

Glad I got the tarp on yesterday morning. Did you know that frost on a trailer roof is SLIPPERY! If only we had video taped that, we would probably stand a chance of winning on Americas Funniest Videos. :rotfl2:

Right now, God is doing a pretty nice job of clearing the sidewalk and driveway for me - sun on the asphalt and concrete. I sure am glad I got the trailer covered last weekend before the cold weather hit.

Hoping to call Drummerboy this week from work if it is slow to find out about a group discount.
