Getting your eyebrows waxed

I called the salon at Coronado Springs since we plan on eating at Pepper Market. They don't wax but do Eyebrow Threading. It cost $20 total and the lady that does it has been doing so since she was 9 years old. Sounds good to me!

Nine years old, WOW!

What is eyebrow threading? I have never heard of it.

I have never had my eyebrows plucked or waxed and don't plan to. Many people have very pretty natural eyebrows. Its like fashion...just because it's in style it doesn't mean you have to.

Of course if your brows are growing together, that's another story!

Threading is primarily an Asian technique that seems to be catching on here in the States now. The technician uses a thread looped somehow to pull out the hairs. Sorry I can't be more descriptive, but I've only had it done once and my eyes were closed, so I couldn't see the process. It hurt a little less than waxing. Supposedly, the hair won't grow back as quickly, but I found that not to be true. Another benefit of threading vs. waxing is that it's not as rough on the skin. I had no redness afterward.

Threading might be the best way to go for a young person who hasn't had her eyebrows done before. Less painful and possibly less intimidating.

Just my $.02

My dd was in her mid teens the first time she asked me if she should pluck her eyebrows. I said sure because she had quite a bit of hair growing between her brows. OH MY GOODNESS!!! That child needed much more direction than I realized because when she walked into the living room later that night literally half her eyebrows were missing (middle to end on each side) and she had plucked so many hairs in between that there was a huge gap. She really looked funny and it was all I could do to keep from laughing when I told her that she'd taken "a little" too much off and that after they grew back I'd show her how to shape them.
The worst part is that Ashli got braces the next day and so in her 'before' picture the eyebrows are more noticeable than her teeth, lol. That wasn't the best time to get a close up pic made and it cracks me up every time I look at it.

I get mine waxed at my nail salon. It doesn't hurt a lot, but I actually mind tweezing more than waxing. My skin is very fair and sensitive, so it does swell and turn red where it has been waxed. I just don't do it before I need to go somewhere. :)

I would think the waxing would be alot less painful that the threading. Threading sounds like plucking to me and if she has alot of hairs to be removed she will feel every pluck. With waxing it would hurt only once.
I had my eyebrows waxed once and would never have it done again. OUCH!!!. Plus the fact that I had them done before a party for my sister's 50th birthday at WDW. I went to the parks after the waxing. Without sunscreen because I never burn. Never thought about the bare skin that had never been exposed to sun before. Boy did I look funny with a bright red eyebrow above my normal eyebrows.
But I remember the pain was more than I want to experience again. I use the little shaver thing they advertise on tv now. I found it a CVS, it looks like a mini razor. I use that about once every two weeks. Peggie
