So I'm no alcoholic...but I can't imagine I won't want a drink or three after returning from the most "magical" place on earth after I get back to my resort. I'm going out on a limb here and guessing that drink prices are on the "holy ****" level.

So all of you experienced boozers out there, what's the best strategy? Do I smuggle it in my luggage? Suck it up and buy the $15 Mai tai at the resort?

What's the best way to get your drink on?

Disclaimer: obviously not sloppy, cover your kids eyes drunk...just feeling a little more "magical".

I am happy to say that I fully intend to get drunk a night or two during our vacation, maybe even an afternoon or two.

But hey, to each their own.

A couple tips:

No need to smuggle. You can bring it in your luggage without a problem, WDW doesn't mind if you bring booze to your room.

You can also do what we do, order booze to be delivered through garden grocer. We typically get a couple cases of beer, couple bottles of wine, and maybe a hard bottle delivered.

Alternatively, you can buy a 40oz bottle of vodka in Norway in Epcot for $20. That's the best deal on booze in Disney, otherwise yes drink prices are pretty pricey and if you go to the Disney stores and try to buy, prices are insane.

Hope this helps, enjoy your drinks responsibly, but not too responsibly :)

Mmmmmm....booze. We always have a rental car so we drive offsite to buy our alcohol. Just don't take a styrofoam cooler down to the food court to fill it up with orange juice. They kinda frown at that. Just sayin'. :drinking1

I looked on the garden grocer site, and for beer/wine it says Id required. Do we need to be in the room when it's delivered?

Bahahaha! I fully intend on taking advantage of my resort cups for a little rum and coke action!

If you've ever been to Vegas or New York, the drink prices at WDW are actually cheaper.

Also, the bartenders tend to have a heavy pour.

I agree with the other posters who say to buy it and bring it to your room or have it delivered. BUT if you want to drink elsewhere there are options most everywhere but in the Magic Kingdom (except for the new restaurant in Fantasy Land).

A tradition for me is the Margarita bar in Downtown Disney. They are not cheap but I always get at least one each trip. Another favorite is between Mexico and Norway in Epcot, there is a nice frozen margarita stand. But each country has good choices around the World Showcase. In Hollywood Studios there is a nice bar near the entry to the backlot tour. Beware it doesn't open until noon, and yes I needed a drink at 11:30!

All the resorts have good options as well. Especially the pool bars! Drink up and have fun!

I ordered a case of beer from garden grocers ......(I'm travelling with two teen girls I'm so gonna need a cold one by the end of the day:rotfl:)

I don't drink anymore, but dh takes cases of beer with us and uses his resort mug to carry them around. We use to have a ball (before kids) resort hopping with a drink at each resort. Each resort has a Happy Hour with different drink specials.

I have many times put two cases of beer in a garbage bag and pack into a suitcase. I call it the beer bag. 47 pounds and it fly for free on southwest. Put a tag for the magic express and the beer fairy brings it to the room. What's more magical than that? Also can hop the bus to downtown and hit the Hess station get a 18 pack for a decent price and round trip during the day is quick. Many times I have the whole bus to myself and that can be a treat in itself after you play the pack the bus game a few times.

I have a $500 WDW liquor budget. I add it in every trip. I almost always use every penny of that over a week, LOL.

For anyone with a military or DoD ID, you can pop over to Shades of Green across the street from the Polynesian for 6 and 12 packs of beer. They have a decent selection, and while the sticker price is higher than the HESS station, you don't pay sales tax.

We stayed at POP in September. They sold liquor behind the register at the gift shop. A fifth of Captain Morgan's Long Island was like $16-18, which we didn't think was terrible. I'm sure they had other equally priced liquor as well. We packed Captain though and took advantage of the resort mugs and coke...love rum & coke!!
