Getting worried about Teppanaki ADR...

My ADR is for Nov. 8. I have read that this restaurant is scheduled to reopen on Nov. 1. But as we all know, delays are common. My fear is that once I definitively learn that Teppan. won't be ready, how difficult will it be to get another ADR at a decent place in Epcot for the same evening??

Can I make two ADRs for the same time, then cancel one as need be???:confused3

We've got reservations for 10/31. The Nov. 1st date is still not 100% official. Currently Disney is probably not confident in the official Oct 15th opening date, so they aren't booking reservations anymore.

Even if they push the date back to Nov 15th, they have been doing a good job of contacting people with ADRs and fitting them into other restaurants. If you get bumped from Teppan Edo, you should get a call to reschedule your ADRs. They have been giving people a choice of almost any restaurant in Epcot as well as VIP Illuminations viewing. This offer has only been good for people confirmed with ADRs during the refurb. It is a shame that people will will not eat at Teppan Edo, but at least they will still get ADRs at places like Coral Reef or Le Cellier.

My guess is that it will be well into November before Teppan Edo is ready to go.

I would call and make a back-up reservation, just in case.

I called a few nights ago to see when Teppan Edo would open and the CM told me not until November 15. (You know how that goes, it seems all the CMs have different information on these sorts of things). Maybe call to ask again, but also book a back-up so you don't get stuck.

Good Luck!

I called yesterday for my Oct 26th ADR and the CM indicated they would not be open until "at least Nov1st" so I need a new ADR. Still trying to make a choice. Best of luck.

Update: 8/30 I called this morning and they indicated that they are still using the Oct 15th date for a reopen date. If that changes I should receive a phone call. I guess we'll see.

Plus, as a DISer, you will most likely know before Disney ever calls you about your reservation and can be proactive - like many of us definitely affected already have :teeth:

If they do what they have done for those of us that already had our ressies for Teppan Edo cancelled you will be in good shape.

Basically from what I understand is that even when the ADR's are currently gone - there are still some ressies to be had that open up here and there up to and including the day of. (I don't know if this is true or not, I am just stating what I have been told/heard/read)

they are putting those of us with cancelled ressies ( ie. you have to have already had a confirmed ressie for teppan edo ) into these ressies - you can make a back up plan, but know that Disney does/or is known to cancel out dup ressies if on the same day for the same period - ie not the same time but if you have 2 ressies for different places on the same night for dinner ( anytime between 4-10pm) they consider that a dupe and can cancel it - I am not saying they will for sure, but it could happen and it is there decision which one to cancel so you run the risk of losing the teppan edo ressie.

Believe me you will know about it from these Boards before Disney ever notifies you - good luck and just keep checking. I called them everyday to verify the opening date before it got extended out past my dates so I was lucky and got a Le Cellier and a Coral Reef ressie instead ( we had reservations at teppan edo for 2 different nights during our stay ).

Good Luck regardless. I hope that it does open for you. My whole family very disappointed that we can't eat there.

I would make a back up ADR, but don't cancel your Japan ressie. We were there last week -- it was supposed to have re-opened on 8/21. We had made a back up ressie. About 2 weeks before our Japan ressie, I got a call from WDW. They left a vm at my home. It took a few days before I finally connected with someone. The person I finally talked to was very nice and helpful. I explained that I had made a back up, so I was fine. She said that they really felt bad about the mix-up and she saw that we were eating at Epcot restaurants a couple other times and would we like VIP viewing for Illuminations one night. I said, sure. So we got it for the night we were eating at Rose and Crown. Well, we checked in for R&C and I explained that I was supposed to get some certificate for an Illuminations thing. They had to find the manager to get that for us. Then they seated us -- at the absolute best spot on the patio for Illuminations. The manager came over and gave me the VIP card but said that if we wanted to just stay at our table, we were welcome to do that (our ADR was for 7:40). We opted to stay and have a nice seat for Illuminations and it was great. It would have been cool to do the VIP viewing thing, but who knows how many people they were going to be crowding into the area.

I guess I should call and make back up too. We have ADR for Nov. 7. I called few weeks ago and CM said no problems with that date that Teppan Edo would be open. Now what should I try, this is our last night in WDW. hmmmm...

I just called to make backup ressie for Nov. 7 and asked CM about Teppan opening date. She kept thanking me because they were not able to book any ressies, but today it opened up. She said she had Nov. 7 available to book.
I didn't tell her I already had one, (booked back-up in dh name). So I will watch the board and see if it opened on 1st then I will cancel one of the ressies before we leave home. I don't like to double book, but I don't feel I have any choice. I don't want to get there and not any anything.

Can't wait to get in there and see what the heck they have been doing all this time! Long, long time for a rennovation!

When I originally called on Tuesday, the dates for my vacation were not opened up for booking. When I called back tonight I was able to book with no problem!
