I have been on the Backlot Tour at least a dozen times. We have always laughed when the CM says that the people on the LEFT will get soaked. We have gotten misted and dripped-on mostly when going through Catastrophe Canyon until this past February 20 when I got absolutely soaked, so much so that I had to go back to the resort to wring out my clothes and change. We were seated in the middle of the tram. I was 3 seats away from the left side. When the water came down it hit my face with such a force that my glasses came off. The people in the row behind us got just as drenched. The people in the row ahead of us were dry and wondering what all the fuss was behind them. When I was getting off the tram a CM came by and said, "Oh, my" When I explained that I had not been on the extreme left side she said, "Well we do warn you in advance, I'm sorry you got wet, we'll have to dry these rows out before the next group can go on." There was no way that I could stay in the park, my left side was wet to the skin, and my hair was soaked. They did not do the pre-show before we got on the tram because they deemed it too cold to get wet that day. And believe me, it was. Has this happened to anyone else or was this just a fluke?

That is too bad you got so soaked. I have never gotten wet on this ride. My DH and I were just talking about this ride and that we can't wait to go on it. I guess I'll have to watch out for the Water. :)

That's amazing! I've never seen anyone get wet! That's a good story, though! Thanks for sharing!

I've been on this ride several times and never seen anyone get wet no matter where they were sitting. Perhaps there was a misplaced prop, or a loose pipe somewhere when you took your "wet ride." Probably a rare thing for that ride.

Enjoy.

I've got a story about that...about three years ago I was at WDW. I was by myself and I went to ride the tram to CC. I was in the front of the split line in the q when a family of 4 from Minnesota, I think it was, came up behind me. I overheard their conversation and the just of it was that this was their first time in WDW and they didn't know anything about CC. I turned to them and said that I had been here a gazillion times (which I had) and the best view was on the left side of the tram so I offered to trade places with them.

Remember that there were crowds of people standing nearby along side us and no one said a word. When we got to CC the water flowed and the two kids got soaked. They loved it and the people in the seats in front and back turned around and high five'd me saying that was the slickest move that they had ever witnessed. They all knew, instinctively I guess, that I was setting them up but still stayed quiet. We all laughed, including the family and said how much fun that had been. Yea, I know it could have backfired on me but it was all in good fun and everyone survived.

:rolleyes1  :cool1: :thumbsup2

I've told this one on here before, but this is a good place for it. :teeth:
The first time we took our kids in '97, I had read the guide books but my DH had not.;) We took our daughter in a wheelchair then because of her scoliosis, so it put us right at the front of the tram.
Well when we got in, it was our DS, DD, myself, then my DH. Then the girl in front on the microphone started her little speech. When she got to the part about which side got wet, she said, "Those are who on the right side will get wet"....But, before she could go on, my DH jumped up in alarm (all 6'5" of him) looked around wildly, picked up our daughter, and put her down where he had been, then sat down in her place.
Then....the nice little girl who gave him plenty of time to do this btw, :teeth: then continued her speech, and said "And, for those of you on the left side of the tram, You will get EXTREMELY wet! Not only has my Dh never moved so fast to rearrange himself and our DD, but has there never been such hilarious laughter been heard as was heard behind us! :rotfl2:
You can bet now that if he doesn't take time to read the guide books he makes sure to ask plenty of questions before hand! :lmao:
