Getting viruses from facebook?

I've had this computer for a year with no viruses, that is, until my wife started using it to go on Facebook about 4 weeks ago, after her computer died. I don't use facebook. Since then, we have had 4 viruses, all of which I was able to get rid of.

I don't track what she does on FB, but so far as I know, most of her time is spent playing those Zynga games, and IMing her friends. She posts the occasional picture. Other than that, I don't know what she might be doing.

So, I am guessing that it is her getting all the viruses, as I only visit about 10 total websites, and they are the same sites I have been using for years with no viruses.

So, if she is getting them from FB, where might the likely culprits be? Zynga games?

It could be coming from her "likes" My brother wiped out his whole computer by "liking" a stupid video of something. I just had to yell at my mother for "liking" things like that. Good luck !

I have never heard of anyone getting a virus from Facebook. Many times people get them from clicking bad links in Facebook which take you somewhere else malicious. I haven't listened to any of today's Tech news yet but if Zynga is infected it would make the news quite quickly. It is more likely that someone posted a link somewhere that masqueraded as a Zynga link or some other Facebook link.

Yeah, I didn't mean facebook itself was giving viruses, just whatever she might be doing while on facebook.

Facebook is just like anything else on the net. If you are going to click on any old thing, you better have good antivirus protection.

I have a friend who claims to have gotten a virus from a FB game she was playing. Since she stopped no more trouble.

Saying that you can get viruses from Facebook is a bit like saying that you can get cavities from eating food. Well, yes - you can - but only if you choose your foods irresponsibly and/or fail to take proper care with regard to brushing and flossing.
