Getting to the Atlantis

We are a family of 5... do the cabs in Nassau accomodate 5? If not, what is the best way to get to the Atlantis?

Yes most cabs can accomodate 5 (a lot of them are mini vans) or you could take the water taxi over. We have done both and never had any problems. The only thing is if you take a taxi make sure to set the price with the driver before you get in . They are honest people...if you set the price up front... and then expect to pay an extra dollar for the toll bridge. We usually get the cab for about $5-$7 per person. The water taxi I believe was $7 per person flat rate (each way) but I could be wrong on that it was awhile ago.

We took a cab beginning of August this year. It was 4.00 per person. There is a booth right in the customs building when you get of the ship. They useds vans to take the people over.

WOW, per person? that seems high? or is that a good fair?
at $4? do I have to haggle if I go to the booth?

I assume they also take american money?
so i should bring some smaller bills.

From what I gather that is normal on the boards. I don't think they haggle. That is the price if you want the one that is inside. I don't know about the ones.

We've always taken the water taxi/ferry and it's $6/RT per person. Some of the problems with the water taxi is sometimes there's a long wait until they fill the boat up and then there's a half-mile or so walk (uphill) to Atlantis. This may be off-setting to some people, but we enjoy it for the atmosphere.

yes, but that sounds more expensive than a taxi and with a wait and walk up hill?. I would do the $4 taxi I think

Is that $4 one way, per person? If so, the round trip would be $8 per person. Is it quicker than water taxi?

Yes it 4.00 one way. I have never took a water taxie. They looked crowded ( when I looked from our veranda). With the taxie they drop you off right in front of Atlantis. When you are ready to go back you tell the bell hop that is out there that you need a taxie and he calles one for yuo.
