Hi there. Can you tell me if it's possible to make rope drop at every park from the Fort using Disney's transportation. Keeping in mind that we will have a golf cart, we can avoid internal buses to get the first external bus or boat to go to MK. MK is the easy one, but how exactly would I get to each park fastest. For epcot, should I cart to the marina, get a boat to the TTC and take the mono-rail to epcot or is their an external bus that would get me there more quickly? ARe the external buses express or do they make multiple stops? I know....400 questions, but I am bound and determined to be at each park 30 minutes prior to rope drop...can it be done without a rental car?

I don't know about timing but there is no boat from FW to the TTC only to CR, WL and MK.

Even if there was it would still be quicker to take the direct bus. Most of the time spent getting anywhere on property is waiting for a bus, boat, monorail, etc. to come and to load and get moving. Once moving towards your destination its maybe 20 minutes tops unless there is some sort of traffic issue.

As for extra stops the only ones I know of are maybe at WL. Not sure if it leaving or coming back that it stops there.

The boat from FW to MK will not get you there 30 minutes early. We were told at check-in that the boat starts running 1 hour before opening of the park. We found out, though, that perhaps it starts running at that time FROM it's night dock. The first pickup at FW on a normal opening time day is 8:30 a.m. We found that out the hard way . . . waiting 40 minutes for the first boat to arrive. We took the boat two times. Once we arrived during the opening show and were able to get into the park in plenty of time. The second we weren't in a rush to get to anything in particular. We were earlier and were able to watch the whole show with Mickey and pals on the train station platform.

Never hardly use the external busses. I can't recall too many rope drop discussions at any other park OTHER THAN MK. You know you can drive to any Disney theme park and park for free as long as you have your Fort pass on the windshield. Will you be without a car, dude, or just trying to use it as little as possible?

You might be able to make Epcot because there are early boats that run to the Contemp (like at 7am) and then you can monorail it to Epcot. Otherwise you'd have to be super early at the Outpost bus station to get a bus to Studios or AK. Drive if you can. If not, get to sleep early each night so you can get up with the chickens to do the bus thing.

Your best bet to be the early bird is to be at the bust stop/marina 1hour 15 minutes before the park opens. That way you will be sure to catch the first bus/boat.

We drive to every park except MK. MK can be tricky by boat. Even the first boat does not always get you to park in time for one of the first behind the rope. So we now ride bus to Fort Wilderness hotel and take a bus to MK from hotel. It has worked for us. Good Luck and have fun.

Just you don't confuse anyone, its the Wilderness Lodge not the Fort Wilderness Hotel.

We made it to the parks during the opening shows using bus/boat transportation. They start running busses 1 hr before the parks open, but that means you need to be sitting at the outpost bus stop by 8 am waiting for that first bus to get there if you want to be there 30 min before rope drop.

We hit rope drops all the time from the Fort. Just gotta make allowances for the slower pace at & from the Fort.

MK, we like to be at the Fort Marina 1 hour before MK opens to hit rope drop.

AK & DHS, we always drive ourself in our truck. We leave the Fort bout a hour before park opening.

Epcot, we use buggy to get to the bus depot at the front of Fort. We like to be at the bus depot a hour before the park is scheduled to open to make rope drop.

But theres no rope drop for fishing, so you'll just havta set a alarm and get up at 4:AM to get in a little good fishing time.

Just to be sure... There is a direct bus from Ft Wilderness to Epcot, right? The Unofficial Guide is contradicting everything I thought I knew about transportation! They say you have to bus to TTC and then take the monorail to Epcot, but I could have sworn I've read just the opposite on the DIS and elsewhere.

Direct busses to EPCOT, HS, AK and DTD from FW with occasional stops at the Wilderness Lodge. So no, you do not need to go to TTC and get the monorail, which is good because there is no bus to the TTC. Boat to MK from FW.

Thanks, that's what I thought... Don't know why I'm reading the darned book in the first place, other than DD checked it out of the library the day before a lightning strike knocked out my internet for the holiday weekend! I'm finding more errors and confusion than new info. :rotfl:

How old is the book?

In 1999 we had to transfer at the TTC to get to certain places.

But I don't think it was any of the major parks. Places like DTD or the water parks.

This is exactly how we do it also but as you said - OP must be at the outpost bus stop by 8AM.

That's from the 2011 edition of the UG. Must not have been updated, I guess. :confused3

We have been able to make rope drops at all 4 parks - usually on EE day, all by using the bus system. The only exception is taking the boat to Contemporary and then walking to MK. It's a nice little hike but was quicker then catching the monorail and stopping at all the other resorts before getting to MK.
