Getting to Port Canaveral from AKL resort

We are planning to stay at the Animal Kingdom Lodge prior to our cruise in December. Does anyone know if the DCL bus takes you directly from the AKL to Port Canaveral?

I have read a number of posts saying you can catch a DCL bus straight from any WDW hotel right to the DCL terminal. They even show movies about the cruise on the way over.

You should be able to book it with your cruise or with the hotel.

This is how it worked in January. The DCL bus will pick you up in front of the lodge at around 12:40. Make sure to check in with the cruise desk in the hotel lobby when you arrive. They will get you set up so your KTTW card to opens your hotel door, gets you into the parks is also your cruise KTTW card. She can check your docs and have to ready to walk through those wonderful mouse ears without stopping to check in at the port. You do not have to be on the official land/sea package to do this. The cruise CM at AKL leaves at about noon some days, so you may not get to see her if you get there later in the day. You will love AKL. Say hi to the giraffes for me.

Thanks for the info! We're actually booking our hotel separately from our Disney cruise, and we're trying to add in the ground transportation package now. Can we book the transportation as a package that includes the trip from the airport to hotel, hotel to pier, and then pier back to the airport? How much would this cost through Disney if we're not booking their land and sea package?

We're flying in the Thursday before the cruise. Also, do you know when the bus arrives at the pier from AKL? Does the bus stop off at any other resorts to pick up more people after AKL?

We'll definitely give the giraffes a high five for you.

CanadianCruiser ~ Unfortunately, you still have to check in at the desk! You will have to give up your Passport or other form of ID before boarding the ship!

Also, you will have to book from Airport to AKL thru Mears yourself. Then you can add the AKL to Port and then Port to MCO. It's approx. $48.00 USD per person. You can check out DCL site to double check. How many in your party? It may be cheaper to book a limo.

it was $25 one way each person,
or $49 roundtrip each person.

for four people this would be $200!! yikes.
I agree looking into other options as well.

We were able to book the transport to the port from AKL by calling DCL. They arranged everything. We used the Mears shuttle from the airport to the lodge, and the DCL bus to the port and back to the airport. We were on the ship by 2:00. The AKL CM was not there when we arrived the day before, so we could not check in there. They arranged for us to to the supervisor's desk at the port for a very quick check in. They apoligized for the unavailability of the lodge worker and escorted us all the way on to the ship. If you have not been to AKL before, be sure to ask for a DELUX view room if you really want to be able to see the animals well. The standard savanaha view rooms are in the corners and you don't get a sweeping view, just your little corner. It is worth the extra money. You will have a wonderful time.
