Getting to know you....

I'm Sharon and live in north central Kansas with DH. I have 2 grown children and 5 grandchildren. My son and grandkids live in Southern California, which is way too far away. My daughter (thankfully) only lives about 2 hours away.
We've been going to WDW since 1988, and thought we probably wouldn't go after the kids were grown. WRONG! We go more now than we did when the kids were at home, own DVC, which, of course, means more trips. :goodvibes
I found the Disboards years ago when researching our Disney trips and have been here ever since.
I can't remember exactly when I found the podcast but once I did, I was hooked. Once I found it, I went back and listened to every podcast till I was caught up. Absolutely love it! I was fortunate to meet the crew, including Bawb, in December of 07.
This is a great community.

:cool1: Hello, I live on the MS Gulf Coast. DH first went to WDW in 1976, my first trip was 2002. We are both addicted and go every year. No children but we have a precious, perfect Jack Russell--Trinity--after The Matrix. My addiction has cost me- glazed looks on co workers faces when someone asks a Disney question, angry because a crowd question developes into a discussion of restaurants, then tickets, then planning, then....... They literally go, "Oh no, don't you know to never ask Lucretia a Disney question". Any who, we go back year after year because we haven't done it all yet.

Disney is complete fantasy--no real world stuff anywhere--very cool, indeed.
:cloud9: :santa: Only 3 more weeks until we make the trip "home".

Hi, I'm Robin and I live a little south of Richmond VA. I've been posting on the boards for a long time, but I used to come around right before a trip, see what was going on and then dropping off until my next trip.

I discovered the podcast around the beginning of this year and had to listen to them all over a couple of weeks and I was hooked.

I spend a lot of time on the road for my job so keeping up w/ the DIS gives me something to do while I am hanging out in hotel rooms.

Was on a solo trip to the world in late Sept/ early Oct and did my first DCL cruise and met Kevin and John and Kevin's parents. They were so nice to spend some time with me.

My next trip is two weeks from Sunday   taking my aunt, uncle, cousin, her husband their two boys and her in-laws. I've gotten them hooked as well.

Another Kim here (really!) I am married to ScubaD, who posts here occasionally. We live in a town west of Seattle and have a DD who will be 23 next week and a DS who is 19. I will also become a mother-in-law next July when DD gets married. I've been a Disney fan since as far back as I can remember and joined the DIS over 2 years ago when we were researching DVC. This is such a friendly community. :goodvibes

Hi Teresa! :wave2:

I'm Caroline, originally from Toronto but living in Atlanta (and out of the snow) the past few years. My first trip to WDW was 1981, when I was 3, and I've been trying my hardest to go back at least once a year since then. Haven't quite made it, but my track record is pretty good. ;)

My husband, Scott, and I were recently on the podcast doing a dining review with Kevin and John (I ate a lot of grains... ). We don't have any kids, though we tend to tell people we're MwF (married, with ferrets).

I first came to the DIS after reading about it in a trip report on another site and deciding to check it out. I lurked for several months before registering (hard to believe that was almost five years ago!). I still lurk a lot but keep coming back because of the wealth of information and great community here.

Glad to have you as part of the group! :thumbsup2

Hi! :wave2:
I'm Krissy, from San Antonio.

I found the Disboards back in 2005 while researching for my trip. I had not been to WDW since 1971! Been every year since that trip back in 2005 though. :lovestruc

Been married for 5 years to my best friend in the world! We have no kids, but we do have two furbabies. Wally and Dodger.

Just recently started listening to the podcast. LOVE IT!

Hi I'm Vicky from Chicago.
I'm a single mom to Gabby DD3, and Quincy my black lab mix.

I've been to WDW more than ten times as a kid, last trip in august of 06 when Gabby was 18 months old. Her first haircut was on main street.

I joined the boards while planning that trip, my friend from high school Mking624 sent me here to figure out ADR's and stuff. After that trip I kinda went away for a while until I started thinking of taking Gabby on a trip just us.

Then when I had to quit my job in August this community was my cushion. I just got a job at the Disney store, and am excited to start.
I'm another DU agent in dreaming. If Pete and John are ever looking they would have a bunch of new agents here.

Welcome Teresa. Come join the party!

Hi! My name is Corinne and I feel like a really big DIS Unplugged forum newbie. So thanks for the great idea newmouse2008!

I´m 25 and live in Stockholm, Sweden.
Marrying my high school sweetheart nov 29th 08 and currently live with him and my little brother. We all love Disney big time.
Biggest goal in life is to move to Orlando and work for Disney which hopefully will come true in 2010.
Last year I lived in Anaheim just 5 minutes from Disneyland, best year of my life!
Been a lurker on the Dis for a long time. It was this forum that convinced me to step out of the box and be a poster.
I´m a big U.S. lover! You have the best country and people ever. Anybody wanna trade?:)

Hello! My name is Joe I am a single 30 year old, living in small town in upstate NY, called Mexico. I found the Dis by searching for Timeshare resales. My parents have been taking my sisters and I to Disney World at least once a year for as long I can remember. We stayed at the Boardwalk one year and I told myself when I had enough money I would be a DVC owner at the boardwalk. I found the timeshare store online and they mentioned to look at the disboards for answers to some popular questions. Man what did I just stumble into? Listened to the Podcast crew and lurked on the boards for a year. Now I impatiently wait until Wednesday to here the crew. Who would have thought a Wednesday could be so special!

Hiya! I'm Todd. I'm up in south-eastern Michigan (points to RIGHT palm {dpuck pay attention to which hand you are pointing to} near where your thumb bone and hand bones connect). I've lived in the state my entire life, except for a brief time as a College Program participant in 2001. (Woo Woo Chatham Square!) I missed the end of the millennium celebration by three weeks and Sept. 11 by fifteen days, so I remember "the good old, business as usual" days. I took a trip to Orlando with friends in 2005, going to US & IoA (They are not Disney fans, to say the least.) And was shocked by how much had changed in the short time I had been away.
I live with my partner and our two miniature long-haired dachshunds, Crea Marie & Pepin Aurelius. I have a job that allows me to have a liberal access to the internet, so I spend a fair amount of time reading threads and doing some posting. Well, not that much, if you don't look at the PodCast Cruise Thread...:rolleyes1
I found the boards earlier this year while looking into planning a romantic honeymoon-esque trip in Sept. '09. I used Google to search the difference between the Contemporary Concierge and the Poly Concierge and got directed here. Push came to shove and we postponed the trip, but decided to go on the PodCast Cruise!!! I convinced my partner to sign up for the boards and get to know people, but he is still hesitant and doesn't post often.
I keep coming back because the boards make me feel normal, that loving Disney isn't a weird thing. And everyone that I have talked to seems like "good people". There are far too places in the world where you can encounter so many "good people".

:welcome: again, and as so many others have said, Thank you for your contributions to the shows.

Hi, I'm Michele :thumbsup2 I live in Central Illinois, I'm married (21 years) to my high school sweetheart, Bob

I found the DIS in 1999. Before 2006, I couldn't bear to come to the DIS unless
I had a trip planned, it made me sad. Now, I'm here everyday,
probably because I've gone so many times in the last 3 years, I can't go a day without thinking about Disney.

I been on a variety of trips to WDW,
as a child,
on my honeymoon,
2 girls trips with 3 friends,

we've taken my mom twice,

another family once,

and sometimes it's just our family. :lmao:

I'm sorry I won't be able to add the podcast cruise to my list....but May will be a very busy month for us.
DS 13 is in 8th grade so that means lots of activities, class trips, etc that month.

I've been a podcast listener since the very beginning, before the roundtable. I love the community here!!!

Sorry the post is so long, I was in a picture mood today!:hippie: :thumbsup2 :rotfl2:

Hi everyone

I am Marianna /Bawstngrl, originally from Boston, MA (who would have guess, huh), and a childhood friend of Dian-er.

Moved to Orlando in 2001, (a year after Bawb and Dian-er) with my DD, Sam who is now 20 and out of the nest...
My first trip to Disney was 1991, in a mini van caravan with Sargeant BAWB as the leader !!!!.....oh, the stories I could tell :rolleyes1 .....

by virtue of being around Bawb and Kevin and John, I kinda became a Dis freak by association! ..and now I really do love it...and am so glad I have only a 20 minute drive to get to my "happy place"

Originally a teacher, now retired, I do childcare ...keeps the kid in me alive:yay:

Hi

My name is Jennifer, and I live in the middle of nowhere in Minnesota (seriously, the nearest gas station is 15 minutes away). I have been married 9 years, and we have 2 sons we adopted from Russia almost 3 years ago. I went to Disney twice as a kid, in 1980 and 1982. Both trips were with extended family, we drove down from PA and stayed at Fort Wilderness. We moved to California when I was 16, and I went to Disneyland numerous times, including Grad Night in 1991, before I moved to Minnesota in 1995. I took DH there a couple of times, also, when we visited my parents. We went to WDW in 1999 on our honeymoon, and unfortunately haven't been back since.

I found the DIS earlier this year when I began to plan our trip with my parents to WDW for next October. I got sucked in, hook, line and sinker. :rolleyes1 I lurk around a heck of a lot more than I post. I just found the Podcast this summer, and am hopelessly addicted.

I owe it to the good people of this board for my upcoming solo trip over Mousefest. :worship: DH travels alot for his job, and I am a SAHM with a special needs son, so I try to take a solo vacation every year, usually staying with family in southern Florida. It never even dawned on me to go to WDW by myself!

My name is Lois (but you could probably figure that out).

I've been married since April 1, 2001 to my duh (dear underappreciated husband), Greg. (I have 2 kids, but I always say I really have 2 adults cause they're not kids any more). (2 grandsons, 2 step-granddaughters) No pets.

I think I may be the oldest podcast listener.;)

Our first visit to WDW was way way long ago. We were visiting his parents in Florida and on a whim, thought, let's go to Disney World. So we called to see if we could get a room (how naive we were). The only room available was at the then Disney Golf Resort (now Shades of Green). We were hooked. I think we've been back every year since. And now we're DVC owners (and wished we did that sooner).

I'm not sure when I started listening to the Podcast. I know we were planning a trip to the world with my sister and her husband and wanted to be totally informed. We both started reading the boards. I remember listening to the podcasts that I had recorded on cds on a trip. At that point my husband had not heard them. I would stop listening, take off the headphones and say, did you know?.....(fill in the blanks). After that, I listened more regularly and finally started listening in the car with him and he's now hooked too.

We mourned the loss of Bob and shared in the joy of the announcement of Julie and Corey's baby.

and now, we're also going on the cruise to finally meet the people we've grown to "know."

wow! what a amazing group of people. You all have certainly put me at ease about not knowing anyone here. I cannot wait for the Mania meet and cruise. :cool1:

Welcome Teresa! :welcome:

My name is John and live in Richmond Hill, Ontario, just north of Toronto with DW Katherine (Katscradle) and our 2 sons Johnny, 5, and Kenneth, 11 (Today! Happy Birthday son! :bday: party: )
I also have a 23yr old stepdaughter and 3 grandchildren, but thats another story.
My first trip to WDW was in 1972 with the parental units, second in 1986 with friends, and DW's first was in 1990 with then boyfriend (BOOOO!!) :rolleyes1
We met in 1994, and got married on Sept. 11, 1999. Needless to say our anniversary date can not be forgotten after the events of that day in 2001.
We took the kids to WDW for Xmas Dec 2006, and again just before Xmas in 2007.
Until that time I had never been a member of a Discussion forum, nor had I ever listened to a podcast.
I found the Dis just after that trip in January of this year while researching DVC, and got caught up in the CMO (Chief Magic Official) contest and followed those related threads, and many long hours voting, until the winner (Justin of course, Justin M) was announced. I still follow the "Adventurousity Club" threads which evolved from that contest and keep in touch with many cyberfriends I met there. In fact, a few of us will be meeting at the TSM event! WOOHOO! (Many thanks to the Podcast crew and DU travel for putting this together! Also, a big Thank You to all the sponsers!!).
I discovered the Podcast in April when Bawb passed away after watching the memorial video. I found myself crying and I had never even met the man.(yeah, yeah, too much info, I'm sensitive, what can I say?). I then had to go back and listen to the entire archive of shows just to see who this man was and why so many loved him. I only wish I had found the podcast sooner. I now see why he was so loved, and we are planning on having our first Dolewhips this trip in his honor. We had actually seen Bawb and Kahtcam at one of the parks (I forget which one) during our last trip and wondered "Huh? look at that guys scooter!".
During that time of archive catch-up, DW started listening with me and now we are both hooked, looking forward to Wednesdays and Thursdays. Since then I have gone BACK through the archives twice and have a seperate portable harddrive just for all the DisPodcasts!! (Have not delved into the world of the iPod...yet)
Our trip this year was a last minute decision due to the TSM announcement, as we had decided not to go (GASP!) and put the money towards a larger DVC contract (or contractS).
Still going to do the DVC thing, but Mousefest is calling!
Hoping to meet a lot of you there this year (Dec 11-18) and finally be able to say "My friends on the Dis" without people looking at me strange! :rotfl2:
To clarify that last comment, I just got off the phone with one of my Non-Disney friends, and after explaining to him what I was doing (since he asked) he responded with "Drinking a little early today aren't you?" :rotfl2:

Love the Podcast, Love the boards, and love Disney World.
Thanks Pete for following your dreams and vision so many years ago!!

:disrocks:

Hi everyone !
My name is Kristina (surprise!) and I am from LA, CA but part Swedish on my Mom's side of the family, I moved to Sweden after my 30th birthday. Wild I know but I'd visited many times as a child and I always wanted to live here for a bit. Everyone I meet always says "are you crazy?!" when I tell them where I moved from, and maybe I am just a little bit :rolleyes:but I love Sweden too! The grass is always greener and all that but I plan on moving home again one day ::yes::. Growing up we used to visit Disneyland about once a year and although when I moved I wasn't as much of a Disney fanatic as I am now I did wonder if it really was the right thing to do, when I had Disneyland practically in my backyard. I'd never be able to leave CA now!
I live with my boyfriend Kevin, KevInSweden on the boards and he is from Chester in the UK. I was lucky enough to be able to introduce him to Disney and WDW and he loves it as much as I do now. It really is fun to bring a newbie to the World, especially one you love and who you just know are going to "get Disney", which he did :goodvibes!

I have no babies of my own however I love kids and work with special needs children at a respite care facility here. I enjoy my work although I just switched to nights and have found that I miss the kids so much that I almost have to fight the urge to wake them up :goodvibes!

I have loved Disney for ever, but I can't remember when I found the Dis! I only remember that when I found it I knew somehow that it was something special. I've been here ever since and found the podcast about a year ago or so. Like Julie feels bad for the people with the box cameras :goodvibes I feel bad for the Disers who have yet to find the podcast! Such a wonderful crew! Also, I just adored Bawb, and miss him on the podcast so much!

So hi and Welcome Teresa! Also a special hello to corinne148! A Swede, wow! I thought I was the only one ;), but now at work, because they are starting to rib me about Disney, I can point and say...there's another one of us in Stockholm :thumbsup2 !
