Getting to know you....

I'm in Baltimore. I don't remember how I found the Dis, but check in everyday to get my Disney fix between my DVC trips. I still don't post much.

Hi Teresa: :wave2: :welcome:

I'm Dave, I live in Rochester, NY, and I've been married for 13 years and have 2 girls - Maggie DD10 princess: and Evie DD7 pooh:

You can see them in these photos. Maggie's on the left and Evie's on the right.

I found the DIS in 2005 when I was planning a family trip during free dining in over Labor Day weekend. It was on that trip where I got bitten by the Disney bug, and became a regular on the boards.

After the trip in 2005, I kept surfing around on the boards and decided I needed to start exercising again. I had stopped running when my first daughter was born, and my weight really went up. I discovered the WISH forum on the boards, and they helped me train for and complete my first ever marathon in 2007 (at Disney of course). I lost about 50 pounds on the way. I've consistently continued to exercise for 3 years straight now, thanks to the help and support I've gotten from friends I've made on the WISH forum. I listen to the DIS Unplugged regularly during my runs.

Earlier this year (2008), my girls and I wrote a review of our dinner at a local IHOP as part of the "Restaurant Review with Kevin" contest, and we were chosen as one of the two winning entries. You can see it here if you're interested.
http://www.wdwinfo.com/disney-podcast/contest-dine-Parfitt.htm

We were able to come to Disney in July and have our dinner with John and Kevin at Cinderella's Royal Table. We had such a great time with those two, and truly felt as though we made new friends. The food wasn't the best, but the company couldn't be beat. It made for a fun evening.

I too would be very interested in becoming a Dreams Unlimited travel agent someday, but I realize with the economic recession this is not the time to be hiring new agents. Keep me in mind though.

Welcome to the team! :welcome: Great job on the reviews!

I'm Annette & I'm from Virginia (betcha didn't get that from the screen name ;) )

I found the boards in 2004, through a Google search, probably. Started listening to the podcast last May 2007 & was immediately hooked.

I have 2 boys - ages 5 & 7. That's them in my sig. The pic is old as heck but I can't bring myself to change it.

So glad to see you posting, Teresa!

Howdy!

I'm Dara (rhymes with Sarah). :goodvibes

I'm in Raleigh, NC.

Married (16 years :scared: ) with DD11. No dogs or cats (they died several years ago) but I do have chickens and 2 fish!

I was researching for my 1st WDW trip and somehow found myself at the DIS. I like the folks here but most of all I love WDW. I like to be 'immersed in Disney' even when at home so I come to the DIS and get my Disney fix...which the fine folks here are more than happy to provide. :worship:

Hi, I'm Alicia. I'm married to Lauchpad11B (Paul) we have a 14yo DD and 2 Labs. :dogdance: :dogdance:

Currently living in Upstate NY (Kevin's neck of the woods). :thumbsup2
DH is active duty military and I'm a Realtor.

I've been on the podcast board since the beginning.

My favorite podcast thread was WO's (WildeOscar's) hunt for Pete! :dance3:

And my first DIS meet was the Dole whip for Bawb meet. :goodvibes

I'm Rhonda, from SE Pennsylvania. Married 29 years, 2 DD's (22 and 24), one large dog (great dane) and one Disney tattoo :cool1: . I think I found the DIS a couple of years ago, but don't post much. DH bought me DVC for my 50th birthday and it was all downhill from there! (How can he NOT want to go to disney when we already have the points!). Next trip is in 4 days, 12 hours and 25 minutes (not that I have a countdown going or anything).:yay:

I'm Monika, non-legally married (gripe gripe) to a wonderful woman for 4 years and expecting our first child May 2009. :) We also have four cats and a dog, so our household is pretty full. We live in the beautiful San Francisco Bay Area.

I got hooked on the Dis several years ago after researching for my 1st trip as an adult to Disney. I don't remember my 1 childhood trip, but my parents assure me that I had fun! We are now DVC members and visit Disneyland and DisneyWorld multiple times a year. Yes, we're addicts.

What keeps me coming back here is the interesting, funny and sometimes conflictual conversation about a wide range of topics, but mostly centered around Disney. Oh..and the food porn. ;)

I am currently living in NC. Met NC Beast 14 years 2 days ago (Veterans Day 1994 was our first date) while I was a student at UMBC. We went to WDW on our honeymoon in 96 which was my first time at WDW. I'm a big NASCAR fan (3rd generation). We have adopted 1 dog...6.5 year old lab mix girl...Jessie. Jessie loves to listen to podcasts, ABBA, and Disney music. Her favorite podcaster is Kevin because of his food reviews.

I won Corey and Bawb as a prize last year---well for part of a day taking pictures around what was then MGM Studios. Bawb made us see the Beauty and the Beast show at the park because of our screen names.

Funniest moment on the last trip (okay one of the funniest): I was taking pictures at 50's Primetime...a lady from the next table shouted out "Food Porn!!!"

:rotfl2:....What did you shout back??

I'm Kelly,, from Richmond VA but home is and always will be Northern Virginia and I found the Dis in 2004 when planning my DH (John) and I's first trip to the world.

Since then we have gone at least once a year, cruised once (4 niter), booked a 7 night for next October, and bought into DVC (We are BLT owners).

I have listed to the podcast since the start of the round table and was lucky enough to join and meet the gang last December for the meet and greet.

We have 5 adult kids between the two of us, and 20 paws at the house.. A Black lab (Paige), Golden Lab (Gibson - after the guitar not our fellow dis'r :lmao: ), 7 month old yorkie and 2 twin cats..

Renysmom is the name of my first dog, who passed two years ago but I can't to this day bring myself to change my screen name..

Unfortunatly not on the podcast cruise.. DH says our planned 7 day in March to the world and 7 day cruise plus our week at the beach has used up all vacation funds

So glad you have joined the Dis family...

I'm one of the Kim's. I have one DH, one DS9 and one DD6, oh and 2 cats. I live in MA, in next town over from where Bawb and Dian-er were from.

I am originally from Maine. My parents took me on my first WDW trip when I was 18. In 1996 I wanted to go there for my honeymoon, DH agreed and got completely hooked. He figured out a way for us to buy DVC in 2001, and he found the boards shortly there after while looking for DVC info on the web. He introduced me to the DVC boards, telling me hilarious stories about angry threads about pool hopping and occupancy rules. I got my first ipod in Feb 2007 and the Dis Unplugged was the only podcast I downloaded. I listened for about 2 months straight during my commute to get caught up. I have hooked my DS (Jack) on Disney from birth, and the podcast about 6 months ago. He calls in with voicemails ALL the time, and has even had a few played. He's as obsessed with planning as I am.

I am on the boards at least an hour or two a night. I mostly lurk, but do sometimes make it to chat. I can't attend any of the podcast events b/c I'm a teacher....the superintendent does tend to frown on us missing school for The Mouse. However, one of these days I'll make it to something!

Welcome, Teresa!!

I'm Chris from Orangeville, Ontario. Married for 19 years with two kids (DD 12 tomorrow and DS 10).

I found the DIS while planning our first family trip in 2003. Booked with DU and stayed on the first 4/3 discount like dpuck1998. I post on many of the boards but no where near as much as some. It's about sharing something I love with others that feel the same way.

I've been listening to the podcast from day one. Even before the format change. :)

After lurking for some time and listening to the team talk, I have figured out alittle info about everyone here, but I would love a mini crash course about everyone.

where you are at, how you found the boards, what keeps you coming back.......

I will start off by saying, I started in Illinois, ended up in Georgia for 25 years, and moved to orlando for my job in July. Married w/ 3 kids and a cat ( I will not include my husbands 2 birds.)

I love the close knit commumity you seem to be.

OK. So you are too much fun!

*I am in VA.
*I found the boards by googling "disney chat group" or something along those lines.
*I keep coming back because: 1) I'm obsessed/neurotic about Disney 2) The people here are super friendly and very playful 3) People answer my questions almost instantaneously and this is good because I'm impatient
*Married to someone who doesn't love Disney but enjoys it, and I have three kids that are in training to become obsessed/neurotic about Disney

Hi, I'm Bonnie. I live in San Diego and have been going to Disneyland ever since I was a wee lass. Disneyland is a day trip for me but WDW is my vacation spot! I started listening to the podcast around Feb of 2007 and have been addicted ever since. I have a DS 2 and am taking him on his first WDW trip in February and to celebrate my Birthday.

Mindy,
I think you and I must be kindred spirits because I like keeping my husband locked up too, mostly so he doesn't find out about my boyfriend!!

I am pretty new here as well.

I live in the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago and I am married to Aaronmckie (Jason) and I have a 19 month old son named Aaron Mickey (after the mouse of course) :).

I first went to Disney World when I was two and loved it! I got to go back a few times as a tween when the all new MMC was all the rage! I even have an MMC varsity jacket! I never did get to see a show though, they were always being taped when we weren't there. But anyway, so Jason always wanted to go to Disney World his whole life! We were planning on going on our honeymoon, but priced it and it was way too expensive. We didn't know anything back then about deals. We did go down to Orlando for our honeymoon, we did Gatorland, Science museum and Universal/IoA. We got done with that very quick, and we decided in DTD to just get an annual pass! So that was Sept 06, we went back to the World Jan 07, Sept 07, and Sept 08 (we took our 18 month old with us that trip.) We will be on the Podcast Cruise in May and doing the 5 night 5 day trip with the 500 gc after the cruise. Ok thats enough about WDW!!

I learned about the Podcast only earlier this year when Jason got a Zune. I remember the first episode I listened to they were talking about the girls that work at Cirque De Soli(SP?) aren't of age! I was pretty much hooked! Jason joined the boards and I really liked them too, we went to the Chicago DIS meet in July?? Was that when it was? That was alot of fun, looking forward to the one in December! Its always nice to get a disney fix!

I mostly hang out on the Creative Design forum towards the bottom! I started going there earlier this year to get designs for our september trip and I got bit by the creative bug and started doing my own designs. I love this place!  :cheer2: :cheer2:

Hey Theresa! I actually stopped lurking a little while ago, so I know how it feels to get your feet wet.

I was born and raised in South Florida, where I live and go to college today. I live in a dorm right across from the water, so life is pretty good. I'm studying to be a psychologist and hope to work for a missions organization or an outreach for autistic people. No husband or kids yet. I could say the youth group motif "I'm in mad love with Jesus," but that doesn't really count. Every time I see another friend getting engaged, I need to go read "Lady in Waiting" again. *sigh*

I was raised with Disney, and have been going on a regular basis since I was a baby. I found the DIS a few years ago when I got the sudden urge to be connected to my favorite place in the world. I became hooked when the Roundtable podcast came online. Now, I am loving how the community has been so welcoming. I really only check out the podcast board, because there is no pressure to cough up tips. Besides mad directional skills in the parks, I have nothing to offer.

I hope you enjoy yourself!!!

I love the DIS. I can't remember exactly when I found the DIS, but Corey and I have been going to WDW together since 2001. She and I met on the internet almost 10 years ago. We have 3 cats and 3 dogs.

I am looking forward to my trip next month. I can't wait for the chance to meet many of you at the TSM meet. I can't believe that we are getting to go. :woohoo:

My usual DIS haunts are this board, the Gay & Lesbian board, the Resorts board, the Restaurants board, the disAbilities board, the Budget Board, and God help me.....the Community board.

Next trip, is solo in late April. :cool1:

Hello

I am also one of the many Kims on the boards. I live in Weymouth, MA with my husband and my DD (3) who are both huge Disney fans. My daughter currently thinks she is Tinkerbell and loves anything Disney related.
I found the boards over a year ago and was a lurker for a long time before finally getting the nerve to start posting.
I found such valuable information on this site and share it with everyone and anyone who is planning a trip to disney.
It is also nice to know that I am not crazy with my love of Disney and my family's choice to visit annually. It's like a giant family here.

My name is Kristin and I live in SW Florida. It only takes me 2 hours to get to Disney! My first visit to the world was when I was about 3 and have been back more times than I could probably even count. I would go a few times a year when I was living at home (my mom would bring me and my sis for the weekend) and now that I am married, we are AP holders and go several times a year (we try for once a month or so - not in the summer, though, it's too HOT!). We will be heading there at the beginning of December, but will miss Mousefest only by a couple of days. I actually looked at trying to get back there for the TSM meet but can't get off work. Maybe next year...

Like I said, I am married to George for 7+ years and have two beautiful daughters. Hannah will be 6 in a couple of weeks and Grace just turned 1 in September.

I first learned about the DIS boards when my mom surprised my sister and I (and our girls) w/ a 4 day Wonder cruise in April 2006. She said she did tons of research on the site. I signed up around then, I think, but didn't really do anything with it until last November when I got my iPod. I found the podcast and the rest is history. I lurked forever on the boards, but just in the last couple of months have started posting. It's very addicting! I have even had a couple of emails read on the show and got to pick a number a couple of weeks ago! I think I am getting the hang of it!

The only thing I regret about living so close to Disney is that we have never taken a true "vacation" there. We only go for short little weekend trips. It's nice b/c we can take our time and maybe only do a half day in the park - we know we will be back! I think if we were planning this as a vacation, we would do more dining, more activities, etc. But ours are only weekend getaways. We leave the planning for our cruising, I guess! We are taking our first family DCL cruise (my DH is coming this time) in Sept 09!
