Getting to know "ME"

Greetings!

I guess I'll add to the Y chromosome crew to keep Dan and Pat company - I'm the Disney planner in our family.

My name is Erick and my DW is Marie - we're early 40's empty-nesters; DS (Erick Jr. 22) graduated from U of Mich last year. I run the local IT group of a small telephone company (we're the ones competing with the Baby Bells) - the only other local member of the IT group is Erick Jr.! Marie is a team leader at EDS; they provide statistical web sites for GM Marketing. We have three feline members of the family: Ariel, Minerva and Luna [and Mr. Rat - a large rubber Halloween rat that came in off the porch and hung around (we put reindeer antlers on him at Christmas)].

Despite the fact that we live in a condo, we love gardening - we have a container garden on our deck (used to call it a pot garden, but we got real funny looks!) We do fruits & veggies; Marie has full-size and grape tomatoes, strawberries and lots of herbs (fresh catnip for the girls!), and I'm Pepper-Man; this year I've got Cheyenne and Habanero (those are hot Hot HOT!) We're both readers, too - the basement bookshelves are overflowing, and we always have 2 or 3 books each that we're in the middle of.

Although I've been a RADP guy since when it was only RAD (10+years) I just discovered DIS this spring - just in time for the FTP Frenzy! The people here seem to be so much nicer - a community of friends, not a gauntlet of snarkers. In fact, we made a dear new friend here on DIS, whom we are going to meet when we go to WDW this October!

My name is Lesley...

I love: Disney, reading, writing, dancing, my friends, my family (don't i HAVE too?? ), traveling especially to Disney and anywhere else warm with palm trees, cafe mochas, coffee in general, nature, dogs, cats, movies, Jake Gyllenhaal, Johnny Depp, Drew Barrymore, old t-shirts, the color green, MUSIC of all kinds, and i am currently finishing up my BA in Creative Writing. Maybe someday, i will write an original screenplay.

Great thread!
I have been around the DIS for a few years now.

I am Diane. I will celebrate my 56th Birthday in WDW August 27th if my health allows me to make the trip. Come to think of it, we will also be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary there on August 24 too! DH is Dick who is an Electrical Engineer ( read telecomunications specialist) for Honeywell and currently does nationwide telecommunications for the Honeywell Security system. I have been a SAHM and have a music ed degree. I currently teach in a studio one night a week (woodwind instruments) and groom dogs out of my home. We have two children...Cindy 34 and Ryan 28.

We started going to WDW when we went to Florida for dog shows in 1981. That brings up our hobby, which is breeding and showing Airedale Terriers.

We found ourselves wanting to go back to WDW every couple years. We definately were addicted! Finally purchased DVC in 1997 after taking the tour multiple times! Our only regret was that we didn't do it back in '91 when we first heard about it! WE now go to WDW about 20 days a year.

Hi!

My name is Kim and I'm 35 and married to DH Shawn (also 35). We've been together for almost 11 years and celebrated our 9th anniversary in May. We have an incredible 4-1/2 yo darling boy named Stephen (who comes home tomorrow after spending 6 days at his grandparents and his mommy is quite lonely without him!). DH and I are both chartered accountants - I'm a controller for a large construction company and he is a CFO with a medical insurance firm. DS and I are the disney fanatics and DH tolerates us (usually!). I love to read and am still an avid flute player (for the last 23 years). DH loves anything to do with vehicles (his dad is a journeyman mechanic and DH worked with him since he was 9 so he's pretty handy around cars - good thing because I'm not!!). We spend most of our free time at home working around our house and yard (we built the house almost 7 years ago - you'd think we'd be done by now!!).

Oh, I'm a bad kitty mommy!! I forgot to mention I have 2 cats (TJ and Casey, 11 and 10 yo respectively). They are both mutts. TJ is a tan coloured tabby and weighs about 9 lbs and Casey is all black and weighs about 16-17 lbs. They usually get along fine but have been fighting like crazy at night for the last few nights for some reason. The neighbours are probably wondering what the heck is going on because TJ wails like a banshee when they fight - it's enough to make hair on my neck stand up! What an awful sound!

I'm Elisabeth, and I'm 23. I'm engaged to a wonderful man, Colin, and we'll be getting married and honeymooning at WDW on December 13th. We started dating right after high school, so we've been together for about 5 years. I'm so thankful that God brought me this wonderful, Christian man to be my husband.

I graduated from the University of Georgia in May 2002 with a B.B.A. in Marketing. I work in the corporate marketing department of an indoor air quality company. I enjoy my job, especially since I get to work with my best friend. We actually share an office, which is great. :)

I am not sure exactly when I became a Disney addict--I think it was more of a process than one defining moment. I went 3 times before I turned 18. Since then, I've been 9 times, so I guess the turning point must've been the trip I took when I was 18. :teeth: I love staying on property, and I love to stay concierge when I am able to. My favorite park is the Magic Kingdom, and my favorite attraction is Spaceship Earth. I found the DIS while planning my May 2000 trip, and I've been hooked ever since. :earsgirl:

My other interests/hobbies include my TiVo, walking, collecting Christmas things (nutcrackers, ornaments, etc.), and singing in my church's choir.

What a neat thread!

I'm Rick and I live in Forest Hills, Queens, NYC with my partner, Joe, of 12 and a half years. We're both 36 (born six days apart!) and will turn 37 at the end of next month. We share our home with the Prince of Darkness, aka Billy, our black lab/corgi mix. Bet you didn't know that the ruler of the nether regions is actually a pretty peppy mutt!

I'm the huge WDW fan in the household, though Joe has slowly come over to our side of the force. He enjoys it tremendously but not nearly with the rabid vehemence that I do. We get to visit "the world" about once a year.

I should also mention that Joe is as aspiring writer who has been published in magazines and smaller anthologies. I, however, don't have a creative bone in my body and can barely color within the lines. I do love horror movies, the gorier the better believe it or not. My friends have difficulty combining this interest with my love of Disney. Go figure.

I was raised in a military family so we moved around a bit, from San Diego, CA , Peabody, MA (1 yr), Boston, MA (6 yr), Yokosuka, Japan (6 yrs), Orange Park/Jacksonville, FL (4 yrs). I then went to UF for a year and subsequently transferred to SUNY Stony Brook where I graduated in '89.

I moved into NYC immediately after and worked for 12 years in national sales/account management for various companies. Joe is a contracts manager for a major publishing house and has been in the same job for 10+ years.

My money hungry, greedy tendencies got the best of me and I did a career change 10/2001 and am now department manager, overseeing 1,100 volunteers for City Harvest, a non-profit agency that provides food to those in need.

Both Joe and I are rather unassuming guys who love to chat with new folks when we're in WDW. If you bump into us, say "Hi!".

enjoyed meeting you all.......I almost forgot to add.....that dH is a disney nut....right? well whenever some one mentions that they are looking at places to go on vacation......he brings up Disney.....this past winter....he got six of the other designer/engineers to go to Disney for a week.....if anyone of you like to really discuss Disney....we do it on a regular basis in chats .....would love to have you come

Hi, my name is Debi, and I'm a Disney addict. :)

My "real" name is Debbie (much different from my DIS name, right? :) ), and I'm a 22-year-old college student. I hold a BS degree in Management, but after a year working in that field, I realized that Business wasn't for me, so I'm going back to school for a degree in Education. After reading through this thread, I think I'm the only single DISer here. Any other singles on the CB? My one "child" is my 10-year-old dog, Denny, a black lab/husky mix.

Outside Disney, my first love is soccer, but I had to give up playing after a not-so-great injury to my ankle. I also love to read, shop (what woman doesn't?), and cook (although I'm not too good at that :) ). I grew up in Novato, CA (a suburb of San Francisco), and moved to NJ at age 15 after my father passed away. I still can't get used to the snow! :)

Great thread, Marie! Who's next?

My name is Carrie and I am 17 years old. I will be a senior in high school this upcoming year. I have lived in Orange County, CA all my life, and have been a Disney freak since I was born. :) I live with my mom, dad, and little sister who is 9. I also have an older brother, 24, and a wonderful sis-in-law, 23.

I have been to WDW 3 times, and DL probably hundreds of times (have been an AP holder for years, and I usually only go for a couple hours at a time.) I consider DL my 2nd home...many dinners have been spent there when I get stressed out. :) I compete with my brother, sis-in-law, and family friend in the "Mouse Adventure" competitions held twice a year at DL, run by mouseplanet.com.

Besides Disney stuff, I am currently the Co-Secretary General of my school's Model United Nations program (a program, similar to debate, where you simulate UN proceedings in committees at mock conferences locally and around the world.) My Co-SG is my boyfriend, Trevor, and we oversee the program (with our advisors) which has approx. 400 students in it. I will also be a "Senior Teacher" this year, helping to advise the freshmen. With this program I have been able to travel to several places, the farthest being Russia and Finland. I will also be going to England and Belgium next March. :) I also am involved in a few other clubs and organizations around school and in the community.

I currently baby-sit, and work for my mom's law firm. I love to listen to music, watch movies, and read. I am excited about applying to college, and plan on attending a college in the So Cal area. I hope to eventually work in entertainment management or international affairs.

Hey everyone my name is Georgette. My mom's family calls me Gette for short (pronounced Jet). I'll be 35 on 8-8. Gette88 :D I'm a mom of 2 girls Ashley (almost 13) & Rachel 3. My DH is Tom and in Aug we will be married for 14 years. I'm a SAHM in South Jersey.

We love WDW. We went to Disney on our honeymoon. We also love watching NASCAR. I root for Tony Stewart. DH roots for Jeff Gordon & we both root for Dale Earnhardt Jr.

I am addicted to all things Disney and I love the DIS board.

Hi ya'll... I'm Meagan, wife of almost 5 years to Patrick, Mommy to 4 yr old Austin. We have 2 pets, a 5 month old cat Harley and a 6 day old bunny named appropriatly Bunny. We are currently in the middle of fixing our home beore we move out of our apt. Its a ton of work but also alot of fun. Our next trip to Disney is in 45 days. It'll be Austins first trip. I cant wait. :) What else? I work in real estate and volunteer at a wild animal hospital. DH works for Trader Joes. :)

Hi, my name is Tina I am a serious Disney addict. The DIS is the only thing that keeps me sane. Most unfortunatley I do not get much time to post anymore......I am 38..have been married for 15 years...DH is not a disney fan he just tolerates it because he loves me:D . ...We have one DD who is 12 soon to be 13. ..also have a chihuahua mix names Sassy who thinks she rules the house.....

The name p-nut came about because of my size. I am very small in stature. 4'10 and under 100lbs.. My DH is 6'. DH is from the military and is now an ASST. Fire Chief on a Military Base. I am an ASST. MGR. at the post exchange at the Army base.

Have been going to WDW since I was ten years old..grew up in Florida so I was able to go several times a year when I was growing up. Since I have been married I have only been able to go once every two years.:( My next trip is in Oct. DH can't make it but my Mother will be joining us:D

Hi my name is Andrea. I am 25 years old. I have been married to Kevin (Hambone128) for almost 3 years - together for 10 on August 5. We have two cats - Sherman and Sam. They are naughty. We currently are living ina townhome outside of St. Paul, but are planning on building in the winter or spring. I have so many college classes under my belt, but no degree. I don't know what I want to do with my life. I know I want to be a mom, and we are hoping I am on my way.

I love to read, watch reality TV, go to Disney (been 8 times), walk, sleep, etc.

Great thread!

Hi, I'm Susan! I've been married to a wonderful man for 23 years. We have a son and a daughter, ages 15 and 12. I work for my husband, taking care of all his office work. He owns a plumbing company. And since I work out of the house, I guess you could call me a SAHM too. Or another good title for me would be Chief Cook and Bottle Washer. We have two dogs, Kirby, a red/blue heeler mix and Dixie, a black lab mix.

I found the DIS right before our second trip in March, 2000. I love this place! My daughter and I love going to WDW but my husband and son say they have had all that they can handle at the moment. Of course that's what my husband said on our first trip in 1996 and we have been back twice at his suggestion. Secretly I think that he loves Mickey too down deep inside.

I'm a confessed exchange-a-holic and find it hard to pass one up though I do at times.

Hi all-I'm Sharon and I am a proud Disney-holic! I think it all stems from years of watching The Wonderful World of Disney. I am 41 and DH(John)just turned 36. We have 2 DDs-Sara who will be 11 in Oct and Emily who turned 3 in April. We live in Irving, Texas currently but will be moving to Fort Worth in the fall. I found the DIS after our first trip ever to the World last year. I was really depressed and I think my first post was about ways to get over the post-Disney trip blues. After years of wanting to go to WDW we finally visited in 2002 and LOVED it more than I imagined. We joined the DVC in July 2002 and made our first trip home to BVC in June. We have finally convinced DH's extended family to join us next June-wish us luck!! I work as an accountant for a multi-family real estate developer--it is boring but it helps pay for the trips:p DH has been a police officer in North Richland Hills for 5 years. In my free time I enjoy playing with our girls, reading, planning trips to WDW and singing in our church choir. I am looking forward to maybe getting to meet some fellow DIS'ers one day. Who's next??

My name is Lisabeth but I go by Lisa and my name sign is an L shaken by the bottom of the ear. I have been married 28 years and have 2 grown daughters. I am hard of hearing and use American Sign Language as well as Englsih to communicate. I am a substitute teacher in special ed but am in the process at getting certified to be a sign language interpreter. I also have my real estate license and help my husband with his business.
I'm a Disneyholic.

Hi everyone! This is a great, interesting thread!! Thanks Pumba.

My real name is Elizabeth but I have been called Kitty since a toddler. I'm 49. I've been married 17 years to Mike. I have three sons, Tommy-23, Michael-16 and Danny-14. Tommy will be a senior at Hillsdale College where he plays basketball for them. Michael's a Junior in HS and Danny will be in 8th grade.

I've been a substitute teacher for 20 years and love it. It's been a great way to be with my kids during the day.....they even got used to me being their teacher now and then!!:)

My 1st trip to WDW was just in '98 and two yrs later I found the DIS and better deals and will be going on my 5th trip next summer. ;)

I love to do many things....listening to music, reading, dancing, riding my bike, watching reality TV, gardening, and of course DISing!

Oh, I almost forgot.....I'm a big cat lover and owner of three kitties!

Next.........................:D

Kids are Dustin, 12 and Rebecca (Beki) is 14. Been a Girl Scout Leader (who's would have guessed?) for going on 10 yers, but an very tired of the politics, etc so not sure how much longer.

But long enough to get my troop to WDW on June 18, 2004!
(YOU HAVE ALL HELPED WITH THIS ISSUE)
DS has been a Boy Scout since Tiger Scout days, and DH is the Scoutmaster. We are a houshold divided. If you call here with a question about "scouts" please be specific which gender.
We live in a very rural area of Northeast Michigan. We have 11 acres, a Springer Spaniel Pepsi, a Standardbred Horse off the track with incredibly big feet (no wonder he couldn't run) and a flock of assorted chickens.
In my "spare" time I also care for my elderly Grandmother next door with diabetes.
(yOU HAVE ALL HELPED WITH THIS ISSUE)
I am the big addict in this house, with everyone folloing willing behind. I found these boards searching for inspiration for our big family vacation in 2000. Re-found this when I began looking for help planning the Girl Scout trip. Barely look elsewhere excpet for Dave, Barb and Deb's sites occasionally.
Thanks to everyone.

Nice getting to know more about some of you folks! :)
I'm Yvonne, will turn 46 next Tuesday (8/5) married since 9/27/75 to Kirk. DH is a farmer (1200 acres, corn/wheat/soybeans) and part time crop insurance adjuster. I'm a former secretary, now a part time waitress and really enjoy my job 99% of the time. We have a grown son who made us grandparents (DGD - 10 and DGS - 7), and a grown daughter who has been married 3 years. DS and his family live right next door to us, and DD lives a quarter mile away. I love the closeness we share. I found these boards while researching for our 25th anniversary Disney Magic cruise/WDW trip and have been visiting here almost daily ever since. I also enjoy camping, travel, movies, music, reading, playing the SIMS, afternoon naps, loons, lighthouses, and so much more. I have a white long-haired indoor cat that is definitely my baby (she even wants to be with me when I go to the bathroom!). Planning our 4th cruise, in January, with my parents who have never cruised before. Mom is already excited!!
Who wants to be next here....
