I think it is easy to talk about ubers and just staying across the street for small families, but a family of 6 doesn't FIT in the motels that are so convenient

Anaheim Desert Inn and Suites have rooms that fit 8-10. There are other options straight down Harbour like Homewood Suites on the ART route.

But as I said, until the OP gets back to us, it’s difficult to give them appropriate advice for their situation.

15 mins is a lot more than you would think esp with the miles you put on inside DL/DCA. If you take 1 break per day to go back to the rental you are def gonna feel it. Even 5mins closer would save you 20mins on your feet per day, it makes a big difference at the end of your day.
