Hi folks :) If I don't have a hire car what is the easiest (and cheapest) way to get to all stars resort from MCO?

Easiest (but not cheapest) would be Mears.

Cheapest (but not easiest) would be Lynx (the Orlando area public transportation system. You would take their bus to the Central Terminal, change to a bus to the WDW TTC and then get a Disney bus to your hotel.

Your options:

Public Bus: Pro - cheap! Cons - will take a while (I believe it involves a transfer), difficult to deal with luggage.

Rental Car: Pro - you get to be in control. Cons: will be more expensive than some other options (though cheap rentals abound), will need to drive (we don't like to drive strange roads). A small cheap rental may not fit all your luggage. Not everyone can rent.

Taxi: Pro - right there at the airport, no prearrangements necessary. Con - not all taxi operators will take you the most effective way - its possible to run up the meter.

Towncar: Pro - a driver for hire meets you at the airport carrying a sign, helps you with your luggage. Often includes a grocery stop. You'll know the price when you book. Cons - towncar drivers occationally don't show up, need to arrange in advance. Won't have a car available while you are there.

Limo: Pro - what a way to go! Cons: Expensive

Mears Shuttle: Pro - for two people its fairly cheap Con: Sometimes you have to stop at a lot of hotels before you reach yours. A towncar will be cheaper if there are four people in your party.

If you don't mind driving, you can rent an economy car at the airport from either Alamo or National and return it to the Disney Car Care Center or the Dolphin hotel by the same time the next day for around $25-$30. Do the same in reverse on the way back. :)

The car care center will bring you back to your resort or to the TTC. At the Dolphin, you can drive over, hand over the keys to the valet and he will take care of returning it for you then you walk down and hop on a boat to Epcot or MGM or hop on a bus to MK, DTD or AK. :)

Thanks guys for all the responses :) For someone coming over from the UK it is a bit daunting so how can I book a towncar before I arrive? Sorry if that sounds a bit stupid but I really don't know :earsboy:

If you book a town car or something like that and want a grocery store stop, then you must request that at the time you make your reservation. You get a 20 or 30 minute stop on the way to your hotel. If you don't reserve it ahead of time, the driver may not have time in his schedule to stop for you. Also, if your flight is delayed or cancelled or if you miss a connecting flight and will be delayed, you should call the town car operator to let them know you have a change in your arrival; just common courtesy so they don't have a driver sitting at the airport waiting. Have fun on your trip!

Easiest by far is Tiffany Towncar. You don't have to call them if your flight is delayed. They check before they come, we arrived 15 minutes early and there he was with the sign waiting for us. They are a little less expensive than FL Tours I believe.
I have heard awful things about how long it takes to get to the resorts with Mears, also if there are 3 or more of you, it's the same cost as Tiffany TC.
