Getting to Character Breakfasts on time

All-I know many of us love staying on property because in most cases it means we don't have to rent a car. BUT...I just found out something that I thought I would share as it relates to that and character breakfasts.

I was on the phone with Disney Dining because I thought I might change my 8am Chef Mickey to a 7:30am Chef Mickey reservation. The CM asked me if I was staying on property and I told her that I was (PopCentury). She said, "You might want to check with the hotel because I don't think the bus schedule starts that early". I talked to a rep at PopCentury and she advised that they begin about 45 minutes before the park opens. Well, that means with an 8am reservation, I'd never make it. My alternatives were to change the reservation, rent a car or take a taxi. I changed the reservation. SO...the gist here is that you may need to be mindful of the breakfast reservations if it's something you'd have to take a bus/car to get to in a timely manner.

Happy planning all!

I thought they had buses that started at 7am for character breakfasts.:confused3 Hopefully some one who has used them can give info.

You were misinformed. We had a 7:20 last year at Chef Mickeys, at were told to be at the bus stop at the BWV by 6:40 and a bus would pick us up. Sure enough, about 6:50 a bus was there, and we arrived early for our ADR.

Unless maybe they don't do it at the value resorts, but I can't imagine Disney only doing that for certain resorts.

Is it better to have later times for breakfasts in case of the busing. Staying at the POP and doing at least 2 character breakfasts the week we go.

Yeah, don't know. The CM checked with another CM and that's what they told me. I don't want to take a chance so we moved it to later in the morning...much later in fact...11:20 which is the last one (which means in reality, we'll be having breakfast for lunch)...

I thought about doing the breakfasts around 8:30 - 9:30 each time, so we have time to get where were going and late enough for just a snack in the afternoon.

Why not grab a cab that morning? Cab fare runs about $10 and it would be MUCH faster!

We were @ POP a few weeks ago & had 9:20 ressies @ CP for breakfast. We'd already been told that the bus would run @ 7am from POP that morning & then it turns out they ran earlier because it was LOEMH. We just hopped the bus early with all the other families & got to the park as it opened & then wandered around before going to CP. Everything worked out perfect!:yay:

Yeah, cab was an option, but my feeling is that one of the reasons I stay on property is so I don't have to pay for transportation. So, with the late reservations (on the day we go home), it'll probably be the last thing we do before we head back to the resort...not a bad way to end the vacation.

Good info! I think you'll enjoy the late breakfast seating at CM, we thought it worked out great! Fed the kids a very light breakfast in the room, headed to MK for opening, went on several rides with no/little wait then hopped the monorail over to the Contemporary!

Yup, that's basically the plan. :)

Have another breakfast that we're doing on an EMH day (different trip). For that one, we booked it at 9:20 because it seemed kind of pointless to have an early morning hour only to use it at breakfast versus taking on the 'stuff' that gets busy quick!
