Getting the most out of Disney Visa

Just wanted to know how everyone gets the most out of their Disney Visa cards. I have the basic one (not premier) and I feel as though I don't get enough rewards points with it.

I use my Disney Visa ( the no annual fee version) along with Chase Sapphire. If we are doing travel expenses, hotel, entertainment, it goes on the Sapphire for 2x points (also better rental car insurance and trip interruption/cancellation insurance coverage). Anything else, we use the Disney Visa.

We miss the days when Disney Visa used to run bonus categories, have not seen those offers since the Annual Fee card came out.

Yes, we know there are better cards to use but these two cards together work for us. We usually have about $700/year on Disney Visa and use it solely for food in the parks, makes the exorbitant food prices easier to swallow. Since we are not paying an annual fee, it's free money.

If you feel you are not getting enough points, maybe check out another card or look at upgrading to the Disney Premier. Good luck!

We have both the Disney Visa (free version) and the Chase Freedom card (along with numerous store credit cards). Chase Freedom has a 5% bonus category every quarter of the year. Right now it's gas purchases (along with a few other minor things) and next quarter it's grocery stores. We use the Freedom card for whatever the bonus category is at the time and we use the Disney Visa for everything else. The only things we don't charge to the Disney Visa card are purchases at Lowes (get a 5% discount when using their card) and Kohls (usually need to use their credit card to get discounts). We rarely carry more than about $20-30 cash in our wallets and just charge everything to that card as long as we aren't being charged a higher price or convenience fee for using a credit card. We have several things automatically charged to the card every month (trash pick-up, cable, etc.) Between the Disney Visa and Chase Freedom cards, we usually accumulate $700-800 per year in reward dollars (even more if my husband has to travel a lot for business). The Chase Freedom card has several ways to redeem your rewards -- purchase gift cards, cash, statement credit, etc. -- we take the cash or statement credit option so we can put the money directly towards our Disney vacations. We always pay our credit card bills in full so we don't pay any interest. There are other rewards cards out there that offer higher rewards, but this combination works best for us.

We have the Disney CC but have found better rewards cards for the money. For example, Barclays Card and Bank of America premier travel card allow you to earn points and then redeem the points for any and all travel. We charge everything to our room at Disney and the charge comes up as a hotel stay so you can basically used your points for the total vacation cost. We also use our Discover Card to earn 5% back and redeem as gift cards throughout the year for shopping and dining.
