Getting The Most Out of a Summer Visit To DLR

Its very early on but we decided to take our first trip to California next year. We are going to narrow our list of things to do down to a realistic few, but Disneyland is at the top. Thanks Hydroguy for the awesome intro to the parks. I'll be going through these threads. We will likely be traveling next August and will want to stay onsite. We love the Villas at Wilderness Lodge at WDW, so are interested in GCV. I'm thinking probably three nights/days. If anyone has suggestions for must do or see experiences for newbies who really love Walt/Disney besides the rides- please share.

* do you like Walt Disney History
* did you watch any of his TV shows
* do you like Disney trivia that can win you money
* do you like growth of Disneyland history
* do you like inside scoops about Disneyland that you can see

Love Disney history and inside scoops. Love Disney movies. Very interested in seeing and learning about Walt's vision in Disneyland. I'm a teacher and so I prefer to not participate in tests on my vacation!

If you really love more than just the rides and if the budget (time and money) allows, consider doing more than 3 days at DLR. 5 days is what we usually recommend to our friends who are first timers. (After the first time, they willingly do 5 or more days on their own!) That way you'll have plenty of time (and in August heat this means a lot) to take in the parks at a relaxed pace -- the atmosphere (so rich!), details (and there are a lot!), shows, parades, live music (absolutely wonderful at DLR!), tours, people watching (such fun!), M&Gs (spontaneous and magical!), and so much more... like, oh yeah, rides! There is so much to see and enjoy at Walt's original park -- you won't regret giving yourself more time if you can.
And this thread is a must-read: A DLR Guide for WDW Vets.

We do 10 days every two years.
It's great to take our time and enjoy it without rushing around
