We are booked on the Disney Cruise for August 2006. I will need to purchase 5 airfares. Is it best to book it as soon as the rates come out, or have you generally seen better deals closer to time of departure for the flight.

We are flying from New York (preferrably Newark, but we can do JFK or LaGuardia).

Thanks for all answers!!

Predicting this is like predicting the weather, but without a meteorology degree.

You have a fair amount of time. Start using tools like Orbitz, ITASoftware, and Travelocity to get a sense for what the 'best' price is for any dates out of your preferred destinations, and what the "common" prices are for *this* August. Then, you'll be much better prepared to know a good deal when you see one.

As you get to August, start checking airfares more frequently (or have something like Orbitz' Deal Detector do it for you.) As soon as you see a good fare, jump on it, because they often do not last long.
