getting the ferry to MK?

One morning we parked for MK at TTC and headed for the Ferry. It wasn't open yet and we were directed to the monorail. Anyone know when the MK ferry starts service in the am? If OP arrives by some circuitous route to take the ferry, no need for disappointment.

The only time its happened to me was first thing in the morning on a slow day. I guess they run only the monorail until it gets busy.

I agree. If you have the time to spare, take the longer route to the TTC and then take the ferry. And I have to respectfully disagree about the ferry ride not being anything special--the ferry ride from the TTC to the MK actually sets the stage for what's to come and adds to your anticipation. It's one of my best memories of my first visit to the MK.

I agree with this. My first visit to MK was taking the ferry in 1996. I enjoyed every minute of it.
We will at least do it once on our upcoming trip for our kids

Since the OP is staying at All Star Music my advice is to take the bus from there that goes directly to the Magic Kingdom because it's the fastest option getting there.

Since you have park hoppers, why not wait to take the ferry until you're hopping from one park to another? All the transportation from other parks, be it by monorail or bus, drop you at the TTC. True, it may not be your "first time" at MK, but the sight should still be magical. (Or you could go somewhere else your first night and plan to hop to the MK the first time you go there.)

Is anyone able to tell me roughly how much time it would take to go this way around?
If I have a vague time in my head then I can decide on the day, depending on how late we arrive in the end

If you drive to MK and park at TTC, figure maybe 5-15 minutes to take tram from lot to TTC. Then anywhere from 15-45 minutes for the ferry, depending on how lucky you are with the timing.

These are my estimates, others may have better ones.

For a First Timer,I definitely think it is worth riding the Ferry.

The view of Magic Kingdom from Seven Seas Lagoon is MAGICAL.

You will only have ONE First Time to see Magic Kingdom!

I would use the Epcot Monorail route because the Monorail is MAGICAL in its own right.

Also while walking from the Epcot Bus Lot to the Monorail Station,you will get a "sneak peak" at Spaceship Earth.


"APPROXIMATE" times:

Wait for Epcot Bus at All-Star Music 0-20 minutes(buses run about every 20 minutes)

Travel from Music to Epcot-10 minutes

Walk from Epcot Bus Lot to Epcot Monorail Station-5 minutes

Wait for Monorail to TTC 0-10 minutes

Travel time to TTC-8 minutes

Walk to Magic Kingdom ferry Dock-2 minutes

Wait for Ferry 0-15 minutes

Total time 25-72 minutes.
