Getting Storybook Breakfast PS

Is the Storybook Breakfast in Norway also now getting to be a real hard PS? Another one of those 'call-at-7-or-die' reservations?

And, is Princess Aurora *always* at that one? She is our DS favourite (which at least lets us off the hook for CRT - whew!), but I don't think she is at any of the other character meals....

Yes, Princess Aurora is at this one, usually in her blue dress. This breakfast is gaining popularity so I would try as soon as you can.

I asked that very question this morning when I was making my PS for October 1. The CM told me that it isn't as popular as CRT in that it doesn't sell out within minutes. She did tell me that it usually sells out on the day of the 120 PS, though.

Hmmmmmm.........maybe we just got lucky. We didn't even start planning this trip until we were under 90 days. I called and got the day I wanted (It's an Epcot EE day), and the time I wanted (last seating 10:20am) for our family of four.

With the obvious exception of CRT (which is simply insane), I have found that PS's are pretty hard to predict - probably because there are so many factors...

- Time of day (maybe, in your case, last seating of the morning isn't highly sought-after. I know in our case, we like the first seating on a non-EE day for Princess._
- Size of party (groups of 2 and 4 are probably real easy to seat, but 6+ gets a lot harder)
- General busy-ness of the season

That said, I still don't get PS's. I recall many times on past trips (usually lower-season times - May or October) calling to get a PS and being told *nothing* is available, getting to a restaurant and finding the thing is virtually empty. That is either a lot of no-shows, or a lot of capacity held back for walk-ups!

Anyway, for this one, I guess I'll be on the phone at 7 am on T - 120 days... Fighting with all of those CRT people for a phone line!

I know you did not ask for a review, but I feel compelled to let you know that we went to the Princess breakfast in Norway and were disappointed. For starters, they did not let us into Epcot until almost 8:20 and we had an 8:30 seating. Once we were seated, the princesses were busy making rounds and seemed almost rushed around. The tables were very close together, so it made it difficult for picture taking. The food was very basic and nothing to write home about and although it was "all you can eat", we had to ask for what we wanted. The cost for this character meal was the highest of the other three that we attended (Crystal Palace, Chef Mickey's and CRT). It also seemed strange that they basically cleared the entire dining room before seating guests that were waiting.

8:20 for an 8:30 seating - that would make for a brisk walk (or as my DW describes it: Walk With Purpose!).

We have been to the Storybook breakfast a couple times now - our experience has been mixed. The first time (May/02, it was still pretty new then I think) we found the character interaction to be quite good - the characters didn't act rushed, they chatted with both our DD (5, and she was *thrilled*) and DS (7, and he was sooooo embarrassed to be talking to actual *princesses* ). The second time (Oct/02), there was definitely a sense of 'rush' - stop, sign, pose, move on.

Personally, I think it had a lot to do with where we were sitting - the second time we were at a table right at the door where they came in the restaurant. So, since we were basically the first table they hit, they knew they still had the whole restaurant to go. The first time, we were in the room off to the right as you enter the restaurant, which is closer to the end of the princess' tour. By then, I think they were able to 'take it easy'...

I will certainly agree with you on the food - there could be plenty, but only if you were persistent in asking for it! However, that's 'par for the course' in my experience at family-style restaurants.

My own personal favourite character meal is Chef Mickey's... (from the ones we've been to - CM, CRT, Storybook, Breakfastosaurus, 1900 Park Fare). To me, it was the most fun and relaxed (notwithstanding the crazy napkin-waving [or maybe *because* of it ]) and had the best character visits (we had Mickey *and* Minnie, Chip & Dale, Pluto and Goofy) and obviously plenty of food! Breakfastosaurus was our least favourite - if you think the tables are crowded in Norway, try *that* place! Food was only passable (IMHO) and character stops were incredibly brief.

If it were totally up to me (and it isn't - DD gets a huge vote!), I would be skipping Storybook - but, DD's absolute all-time favourite is Aurora, and that makes it either Storybook or CRT. And, at CRT, I think she is only an 'occasional' participant.

Am I right about that? Is Aurora only 'occasional' at CRT, or is she a 'regular'??

Aurora was at CRT both May 2002 and May 2003 when we went for breakfast. Obviously if Aurora is your favorite, you will be winding up in Norway. We just joined the Disney Vacation Club so I may begin widdling down the number of character meals since we will be going more often. The princess breakfast is at the top of the chopping block. I really enjoed CRT. Our waiter was wonderful and really added to the breakfast. We were lucky enough to get the same waiter on our return trip last month. Have fun!!

We just ate at the Storybook breakfast a few weeks ago and Aurora was not there. Belle, Jasmine, Mulan, Snow White, and Mary Poppins were there. We ate at CRT a few days earlier and she was there.
