Getting Ship Shape for SSMC06

Today was BoSU class. If anyone has the chance to go to one of these try it. It's super fun. It's mostly about balance as you are standing on a half of a rubber ball on a platform most of the class. Sure, you fall off, but you work really hard and I've found 5 weeks in, I'm falling off less and less.

Diana, what does BoSU translate to??? :confused3

You can use it that way to jump on it, or flip it around and have the bouncy part on the floor for push ups and stuff like that. I much prefer the jumping way! :yay:

I did good today.

50 minutes total exercise. 30 minutes slow walking on the treadmill this morning and then 20 minutes at a brisker pace after work.

Drank my 64 oz. of water (actually a bit more)

I also did my stay out of the kitchen after 7 pm

So a great start to the month with my cruise friends!

WOW! That's really interesting. I just looked through our Y book and didn't see anything like that. Hopefully it will move it's way west and be offered here too.

Way to go, Mary! :thumbsup2

Mary or anyone that has used the WATP DVD's. Did you find them beneficial? I don't mind walking, but during this time of year I don't want to walk outside.

I have been really good about drinking my water and other than fruit or graham crackers that's been the amount of my snacking. I decided to do the ww points instead of counting calories - it's so much easier. Oh, and tonight I'm going to have my 1st Diet Coke since last Saturday. :Pinkbounc

What is everyone doing for the game on Sunday - any parties planned? I have a double dose of parties this weekend - my family is coming over for my ds birthday on Saturday and then we have some friends coming over Sunday for the game. How does everyone handle the party situation - I know the veggies can only go so far. :confused3

Gail I like the WATP tapes for two reasons. One is you can easily do it at home even if you don't have a lot of room. The steps are easy but with the music changes you speed up a bit and get more of a workout. The other thing I like is that she incorporates upper body moves as well both with and without weights.

I did the 2 mile WATP tonight. Now I didn't use the weights as long as they did and at times I had to just walk instead of the knee lifts they did. All in all it was a nice workout.

The only negative which I think is true of any exercise videa is it gets repetative after a while.

As for the Super Bowl and parties. Well we aren't big football fans so no Super Bowl parties for us. I would say that if you are doing WW that's what your flex points are for. Pick a few extras at the party and use your points. Just don't go crazy. WW is all about portion control as well as healthy eating.

Thanks Mary! Wow, 2 miles - that's great! I think it would be a big help especially when the weather is not that great. I just found out from Carol that my other sister (even tho she "just doesn't get the whole Disney thing", we still admit she's our sister) has the WATP on VHS. She will be coming over tomorrow and I'll have her bring them with her when she comes over. That way I can try hers out.

I got out and went walking with two of my friends this morning. We walked about 3 miles. This really isn't anything new for me though. I've been doing this for a long time, and still the weight came on. I know it's good for my heart though, and since both my parents died from heart attacks, I need to keep the ticker healthy too!

I'm not a big fan of drinking water either, but I find it helps if I add one of those Crystal Light-to-go packets to a bottle first. Actually, I prefer the Wal-Mart brand to Crystal Light (especially fruit punch and orange) and it's cheaper! :woohoo:

I'm with you. I don't like the "taste" of water and use the Walmart brand flavors too. It definately helps me get my water in.

Well I totaled 50 minutes today. 30 minutes slow walk on the treadmill this morning and the one mile WATP tonight which is 20 minutes (sorry Cindy I think I told you 15).

Drank all my water as well and so far I'm staying within my points.

Of course now comes the weekend which is the hardest time for me!

I have drank all my water this week and it has helped to add some lemon. Thanks for the suggestion. I have not started counting points but plan to do so next week. Thanks for all the help.

Are we doing a weekly weigh-in? I know that would help me to keep on track. Anyone else?

I should really do a weekly weigh-in and stay away from the scale the rest of the time. I find myself stepping on the scale 15 times a day and just keep getitng more and more frustrated.

I have been doing really really good with the water though, I've reached 64 oz 4 days in a row, which for me is just short of a miracle.

I went to Kohl's this morning to their Super Saturday Sale and got myself a brand new pair of sneakers (tennis shoes, gym shoes--whatever you'd like to call them!) :cool1: I was so excited because they were regularly $65, on sale for $40 and then an extra 15% off, why I don't know, I didn't use a Kohl's charge. And this week is Tax Free Week on clothes and shoes. I know most of you probably don't pay tax on clothes, but in NY they tax you for everything. So I paid $34 for Nike sneakers!! Go me! Go me! :woohoo: I can't wait to test them out on Monday at the gym!

Monday is my weigh in day at WW online. I'm hoping it will be good. Went over my points today but it was the first time this week so I have plenty of flex points.

I did really good all week long, even with drinking the water. Today with having everyone over it might have been a different story! I did keep the snacking to a minimum, nowhere near as much as I would normally do. Now I just have to make it through tomorrow - having friends over for the Super bowl. I'm really not even a football fan, but hey, it's an excuse to have friends over :teeth:

I will be weighing in on Monday also.

I ordered the WATP DVD and while I'm waiting for my DVD's to come in, my sister gave me her 3 mile tape (I think she's trying to kill me!). She is using her 2 mile and her friend has her 1 mile tape. She told me to just stop at the 1 mile mark. Oh well, it will give me something to use until my set gets here.

Gail I've done that before. When the 1 mile gets too easy and then the 2 mile sometimes just seems too much I stop at the 1 mile or 1 1/2 mile marker (it comes up on the screen how far you've walked). Just remember if you do stop in the middle like that to keep walking for a bit at a slower pace to cool down and don't forget to stretch at the end.

I like that it's marked in increments like that, at least I know I can stop it part way through.

Today's workout will be shoveling the snow - my driveway and the neighbor across the street (they're elderly so we keep their driveway and sidewalks cleared for them). Good thing we only got about 2-3" cause it's that heavy wet snow.

Snow??? It's 40 degrees here and the sky is so blue it looks like a spring day. :confused3 It's supposed to turn tonight though, back down the the teens and snow on the way for us. I was starting to get spring fever, thinking about planting flowers....then I saw the calendar and remembered it's still February.

I'm hoping to get a couple of miles around the neighborhood in today while it's still warm. The development I live in is exactly 1 mile if you walk around the perimeter. It makes it easy to keep track of how far you've gone.

So I took today off so to speak. With exercising 6 days this past week and with all the walking I did yesterday I just kind of took it easy. Slept late and it felt good. Did a lot of sit down work like taxes today as well but also did laundry and some cleaning.

Food wise I went a little bit over my points both yesterday and today but only on the daily points. I still have lots of flex points left.

I kept the kitchen closed every night this past week and intend to tonight as well.

So over all I'm happy with my first week being back and dedicated. I'm hoping for a couple pounds lost at my weigh-in tomorrow.

Happy to report a 2 lb. loss for last week. Might have been a pound more but I did eat a bit more on the weekend. Back on the treadmill this morning!

Weight loss for this week - 8 lbs. I love the first week, now imagine if it was like that every week! I think it would be easier to keep motivated :cool1:

I will up the exercise this week, continue with my water and counting my points - hopefully I will be able to maintain a 1-2 lb loss each week. :sunny:

Congratulations Mary :cheer2:
