Getting separated or lost at WDW?

I don't plan on this happening, but what should we tell our kids to do if they were to get separated from us or lost while at any of the parks? I was thinking they would go to a cast member and ask for help, but is there a lost and found for kids that the cast member would take them to that I should know to go to? I was also thinking about taking our walkie-talkies too.

We took a sharpie marker and wrote our name and cell phone number on our 3 y.o.'s arm. We taught her to go to a cast member if anything happened.

I have heard of making beaded necklaces with your cell phone number on it. I'm going to look into that for our trip. At the very least I'll put a card in their pockets with the number on it. At our state fair here they had a booth where you could get a tag to put your number on it and tie to their belt loop or something.

I'll be interested to see what people who have been there say. I'm sure there is some sort of central location where CM's take lost kids, but I have no idea where. But telling them to find a CM and pointing them out throughout the day (since they wear different outfits all over the parks) is really important. I've also heard (in general, not just in Disney) to tell that that if they can't find an employee, look for a lady, or espacially a mom with kids. They're least likely to be a danger, and can at least help the child find a CM to take over from there.

People use walkie-talkies all the time. Also, cell phones ifyou have a family plan, or more than one. Disney is very organized when it comes to "lost parents" and they know what to do. You could explain to your kids who exactly is a Cast Member, show them the badges, explain that the cosrumes aren't always the same. Depending on how old they are, you could tell them to meet at a certain location if separated, or to stand still and you will look for them. I wish I could say it never happens, but it happens all the time. You just need to think about what works best for you and your kids.

We just ran around "Imagination" screaming for our 5 year old, she is now 18, so it's been a while.

There was a few stories I have read on here about children lost at Disney. Everyone of them mentioned that the child told a CM that they were lost. The CM then takes them to the lost and found for kids (which is at all four parks, water parks, etc.) and if you don't know where the lost and found is, just ask a CM. They will point you in the right direction. Disney I would imagine has this happen quite alot, as children seem to be amazed at something and stop in thier tracks, to look, as the parents keep walking. This happened to me at Disneyland when I was younger! But all was well, Just remember to tell your little ones that CM will help them find you!
