Not sure where this belongs.....my husband, myself & our 2 children are coming to Disney February 2016!! Beyond excited our son has special medical needs we are thinking about asking his parents to join us for part of the trip. We already have a confirmed reservation as I rented from a DVC owner; I know his parents could do the same or go directly through disney and get a room at SSR, however is there anyway of making sure the rooms are even close to one another? We are going 2/22-26 if his family comes I would ask them to come for part of the trip maybe Wednesday through Friday. Is there anyway to make sure our rooms are close together if we do this?

There isn't a way to guarantee it, but you can certainly request it. After their reservation is booked call Disney and ask for adjoining rooms.

You can have the doc owner call and say you are traveling with you parents (have their confirmation number). Request rooms near each other. We always end up with connecting rooms with my parents but we get a 1 bedroom and they get a studio soothe layout works that way. If you get two studios it is impossible in most resorts to have connecting rooms. Also we travel on the same block of points.

My family has a 1 bedroom; the grandparents I would think would need no larger than a studio as its only the 2 of them. At a non Disney hotel like a holiday inn fir instance I could give my room key to my MIL and she could take ny son to our room to nap or rest. Now that Disnsy daa Magic bands how would you get an extra room key if one was needed? I'm still learning about the magic bands

Your son's magic band should get him into his (your) room I think.

I've been successful linking reservations numbers within Disney's system, and that raises your chances at a connecting room. In addition to traveling with my ILS in the past, we've traveled with SIL/BIL and they've had adjoining room to ours, so all 3 rooms together. We travel at low crowd times, however, so it might be easier to accommodate during our travel times.

They can still give you a card that works like the magic band. Explain your situation and they will give you a card to give to your MIL.

We are going in February 22-26 so that isn't peak season. Maybe be that will heighten our chances.

We did something like this in May with another family. We had booked a studio at BWV and they had booked a 1-BR but were arriving on slightly different dates. We figured we'd ask if we could get adjoining rooms so we could turn our rooms into a 2BR villa during the dates we overlapped. So after booking (we used Disney reservations), we called and had our reservations linked and then made the request for adjoining rooms. No guarantees. When we checked in - we were the first to arrive, I went to the CM at the front desk and made the request again. They did see the notation in our reservation and it took a while, but we did NOT get connecting rooms. HOWEVER - talk about pixie dust - without telling me, he upgraded us from a standard view studio to a pool view 1BR and put us about 3 doors down from our friends. And he refused a tip for going the extra mile.

We had three studios booked at Saratoga a few weeks ago, and one of them was for my parents (including dad, who has mild Parkinson's and tires easily). As such, we explained the situation and requested that at least my folks get assigned a room on the first floor, near a bus stop, and if possible, for our other two rooms (my family and my brother's family) to be very close (if not necessarily right next door). We made the request in advance to get a head start on the situation, but due to our circumstances of arrival, we actually got to the resort at about 8:00 a.m. on our first day, so we made the request again, which gave them time to try to find three rooms near each other. We ended up all within spitting distance of each other, so it worked out great. As noted above, no guarantees, but if you explain the situation that you've got someone with medical needs and one of the caregivers on the trip will be in another room, then I'd be shocked if they didn't try to help out and get you close together.

We had three rooms on the club level at the GF and requested our rooms together and it was no problem.

Just to be clear, to Disney adjoining rooms are different from connecting rooms. If you want the inside door between rooms you need to request Connecting Rooms. Adjoining rooms are just rooms near each other.
