Getting over the guilt. Parents only trip.

I hope you have a great time!!:goodvibes

My husband and I just went down to WDW on June 2nd for two nights at OKW. Our three kids stayed home with my sister and her husband.
We had a really great time. (With the exception of a few hours on the day we arrived when I got a call that my 1 year old Puggle was missing!! Thankfully, he was found!)
We had time to just relax, enjoy our meals in peace and to take the time to do the things we wanted to do without the kids.
We love them more then anything but, it was nice to get away. Even for just three days. The kids were fine with us going. We just made sure to bring them home goodies.;)
We do take them to WDW each year though. I probably would have felt guilty going there if they didn't go often. We are taking them this December.

I am jealous you are going to Vero Beach. I think we are going to try there or Hilton Head next year for the two of us. We are going to try to get away each year from now on for a few days. It is a great way to re-connect as husband and wife. We are 100% Mom and Dad at all times at home and that can be stressful on even the most secure marriages. We are going to be married 12 years this September. Our kids are almost 11, 8 and 4....They can survive without us for three days once a year!!;)

We're a bit different since we are a blended family (both came into the marriage with one child)- but we went to WDW for our honeymoon for 8 days and while at first, I really missed the kids- by the end of the trip, I found it was sooo refreshing to get to do this by OURSELVES! Of course, our kids hadn't been yet- we just told them we had to check everything out ourselves to make sure it was worth the money to take the whole family ;)

One thing that made me feel MUCH better about my fear of flying (and I had the EXACT same fear as you!!!) is booking different flights...We booked DH's flight using airline miles on one airline and I bought my ticket on a completely different airline. The timing of the flights was only different by about and hour. Silly, for sure, but it made me feel much calmer about flying.

Have great time!

I was going to suggest the same thing. I have a friend who absolutely positively will NOT get on the same plane as her husband (even if the trip is with kids). She cannot even fathom both her and her husband being in a tragic accident and leaving the children. I've known her for about 10 years and have seen her take numerous trips and never once has she been on the same plane as her husband.
