I'm sure this may be the wrong area to post this.
We travel to our home resort and do not rent a vehicle. So for all of you that rely on Disney transportation how do you get yourself and your family some where else?? For example, Universal for a day?? I've contacted a limo company and the cost seems fair its just that I'm concern about pick up.....Its hard to set a time in concrete when you have 2 kids in tow. How have any of you handled this situation......does BWV or bell services offer help in this area?? :confused3

I would do a one day car rental. National/Alamo will pick you up at your resort and take you to the rental center near MK where you ca pick-up and drop off your car.

There is always the cab too, but that would also be pricey.

arranging for transportation can be an adventure - especially on short notice. that's why we generally like to go ahead and rent a car for the duration of our stay. we then can drive to and from the parks if we want to (especially useful on days when we have ADR's in one park, but are taking advantage of EMH's in another). we also drive off property to attend church while at WDW, and to buy groceries. it's more of a convenience thing for us.

You can also rent from National/Alamo at the Dolphin, an easy walk from BWV. We've done one-day rentals from National for as little as $36, booked in advance of our stay with a discount code. We arranged to pick up the car on arrival at MCO, used it to do a grocery run and then turned it in at the Dolphin.

We went one time without a car and were pretty much stuck eating everything Disney (which is great, but pricey after awhile). We did order pizza once and had it delivered, but other than that it was all Disney food. The subsequent trips we have always rented a car. Try the link below... they usually can find really good deals. We are renting a midsize for 5 days for $168 (tax inc) or we could even get a mini van for $200 + tax (sorry I don't remember the exact amount). We figured that by the time that we got back and forth to Universal for a few days and ate off property for a few lunches it was cost effective. Its free to park on property- the hotels and the parks too. After you check in you get a card to put in the windshield.

Good luck!

remember if you go with a car rental to add the $10 per day parking at US/IOA or SW. to your cost.

plus when you park at IOA/US you are still a 1/2 mile from the theme parks - drop off are closer.

well US hotels are much closer!!! plus you get FOLE that now COST quite a bit if you aren't staying at one of their hotels.

We have gone to Universal and Wet & Wild. We take the MEARS buses to both. Cost is about $15 per person round trip and they pick you up in front of your resort.

Just don't need a car and have no interest in driving to Publix and buying groceries. Can walk to all the restaurants in Epcot or take Disney transport to all the others. No real problem. We enjoy the freedom of not worrying about gas / driving / parking etc...

We generally take one day away from property (out of five days) just to see what else in in the Orlando area but we love Disney and will always stay there.

Used Mears once, wouldn't do it again. Personally, we now drive (due to having 2 children-just can't get everything on a plane). If we were to fly, I'd just stay on Disney Property the entire time. They have some neat rides at Universal, but it's just another theme park, and the experience just isn't as nice as Disney imho
