Ok, you all are a wealth of info-I can't thank you enough!! :cool1:

Now that I have found some resales that look like they might fit me, I have new questions.

1. How old are your children? Mine are 10 & 7 - of course DH & I are mentally about that age. :lmao: The reason I ask is do they ever feel funny about going to DW? Do they say they are too old?

2. Where can I find the DUMMIES guide to use months? Does it really matter? Say I wanted to go the end of June, what is my ideal use month? I am a BIG planner.

Thanks......... :grouphug:

My DD was 6 on her first trip to WDW......

She's almost 15 & hapilly admits that she doesn't want to vacation anywhere else..... :sunny:

Mine are 7 and 11. No signs of that here. As someone who grew up doing a couple of trips to DL and then to WDW, I never felt "too old!"

As far as your use year, it really only matters if you plan to make last minute trips at that time. You can't book and travel (but can do one or the other) within 60 days of the end of your use year. Mine is February - I can't book a trip from the end of December until February unless that trip is after February.

As I always book well in advance, I don't see that happening.

So my rule of thumb is use a use year that is a month around which you'd seldom go (or if you did, you'd plan more than 60 days in advance).

And do not forget if you tire of WDW for a while, there are a bunch of other places you can go with DVC.

DD is 11 and loves all things Disney. DW is not as disney loving as DD and I are because she was not immersed in Disney like I was from 1976 till today. My bet is that DD will love Disney forever. We talk about it all the time!

We bought into DVC when our girls were 4,4, and 1. They are 12, 12, and 9 and still like to go to WDW. There's so much to do there and things are always changing. Heck, even if you never go to a park, the pools and restaurants are top notch!

Wow...mine are 35,31,29,25,16 with the two oldest having 3 children each. We all just got back from DW on Sunday. They all love it and so do my grandkids 5yrs to 11/2. Where else can a young family go on vacation and not have to pay for lodging!

we joined in 2002. our kids were 23 and 25. Did it for Dw and I but the kids love it.

matter of fact Dw and I were going this May and DS called to see if he could come and get a room . I waitlisted and got BWV for DS in May. Didn't evewn have to ask if he wanted to come.

well if the kids ever complained about going to Disney I'd put 'em in a kennel with the dogs til I got back ..... :rotfl:

Well, my 6 and 2 year olds love our trips to Disney. My 4 year old is a bit of a contrarian however. He says he is sick of Disney World and this year he wants to go to Supertarget on vacation.

Hey, simple pleasures... :goodvibes

Thanks for helping. AS you can probably tell we are trying to decide if DVC is good for our family. DH & I love it, I think even more then my kids. Perhaps I will use the kennel idea! :thumbsup2 Although they probably could get lost in the supertarget for a week..................... :rotfl2:

flechette - thanks for the link, now I understand.

That is a great question. We are starting our daughter early (she will be 2 and a half when we go this October). I actually never thought about how someday she may not care to go to Disney.

Disney seems to have plenty for older kids (hey - we all love it still after multiple visits), so I assume the kids will stay interested!!!!

I guess we will just have to wait and see

Eric

Kids were 1, 6, 9 and 14 for their first trips to WDW and are now 20, 31, 36 and 38 with kids of their own - still love going to WDW. We have one of those yours, mine and ours blended families and there are different configurations each time we go. Since we have had DVC(1997) it has really been great as nicer accomodations (used to stay off site on 192) and being on site has allowed each person to be as active or relaxed and laid back as they wish to be without causing anyone else to feel aggravated that someone doesn't want to go to the parks etc. This year there will be three trips with totally different configurations.
April: DH and Me

Sept: DH, Me, his daughter (31), her husband(33), their sons (4 and 1 1/2) , our son (20), DH's ex and daughter's half sister. (2 BR and Studio)

Dec: Me, my daughter(39 by then) her SO and his son(12) and her daughter (20) plus possibly a couple more depending on who can get vacation time then and if they want to bring a 6 month old. (Have 2 BR and studio reserved) DH and our DS say they don't want to deal with the crowds but we'll see as time gets closer.

Don't worry about whether the kids will outgrow it - you can always rent the points out for a year and use the money for some other location if you and they do want a break - decide what you and DH would be happy with over the years and the children will most likely agree.

My first trip to Disney was for the opening of Disneyland July 1955 and I still haven't out grown the Disney vacation ecperience.
Good luck with your decision.

My kiddies are 15, 11 & 9. All three love Disney World and no they don't feel funny.

My kids are convinced Disney World is "The Place" for big kid vacations.
