We're building a new house and I'm lucky enough to be able to have a scrapbooking room! I'm so excited! But, I need some ideas of how to decorate, what table/chair would work best, etc. (If you have photos of rooms or know of where I can look...that would be great too!) I've always had to lug my stuff from place to place and having to clean-up after I was finished for the day...it's going to be so nice to have my own space.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hi. I have turned one of our spare bedrooms into a scrap room, but its not organized so I am always down to the kitchen counter to scrap. Keep an eye open in the tool, kitchen department ect.in department stores, you can find neat usefull containers to put your scrapbooking stuff in. I love to find things at thrift/goodwill stores also. Cute old jars are usefull.

I would look at some of the scrap spaces at www.twopeasinabucket.com there are a lot of great rooms there.

What is your style?
Neat and tucked away? Does everything need doors?
Do you like to see all your supplies? Would a big peg board work?
do you like vintage furniture like Printing press drawers,or cabinets like kitchen cabinets?

thanks!

i like to be able to see all of my things, but still have it organized so i can find what i want when i need it. i was leaning towards the plastic storage thingies, but i'm still not sure.

i'm definitely going to check out two peas...just seeing others photos will help me decide what i want to do.

thanks again!

I have scrap envy. I'm hoping this winter to have DH fix up some space in our basement to use as a scrapping area. I would love to just be able to leave stuff set up and actually have everything in one place.

A comfy chair is a must for me! ....
especially when I have the opportunity to sit for more than 4 hours :jumping1:

These are the ones our LSS had (before they closed :sad1: )

They're pricey, but no fanny fatigue. Your spine will know you love it!

Ikea is great for big tables and organizers.
One day I will move pics of my room to the computer so I can post them!

thanks everyone! i love the ikea idea! any reason to go to ikea is good with me!!

I saw the perfect thing in the Ikea catalogue, but its too big for our alcoves :headache: It was actually deep enough for 12x12 albums, and had loads of options for drawers, boxes etc. DH has said he'll buy me some of those drawers - is it called the Perfect system? - but I need to be able to see stuff as well or I'll forget what/where stuff is  Oh, and it has to fit the end of our dining room. I'm currently using an antique buffet (which leans forward alarmingly from the weight of albums :earseek: ) with totes on the floor in front of it. But its awkward because its just two deep open shelves, and they're slippery so i have to use runners which makes it awkward to get stuff out as things catch in the embrodery.

I guess I need my kids to grow up and leave home :guilty: Or a bigger house:rotfl:

Depending on your situation you may want a lock on the door.

With my kids that's my absolute favorite thing about my scrapbook room. My three year old got into it once when a babysitter was over and ruined the carpet with an ink pad.

I'm with you! I found some GREAT organizational gadgets at Ikea for my new room, and a bookcase that accommodates the albums beautifully. :thumbsup2

I used to have a scrapbooking room, but my DS took it over for a music room!

I do have a couple of tall bookcase units in my sitting room (small room off the master) and I manage to keep most of my supplies there. I have one of those rolling totes that I keep most of my tools (paper trimmer, scraparatus, rulers, etc.) in. I have a small desk area in the corner where I keep my Cricut and Cuttlebug.

I have a large square folding card table that I pull out in the den and use. I also have a cutting mat that almost fits the entire top of it. I used to have this set up in my scrapbooking room, but hardly ever used it because it was a "clutter catcher". Now that I have to put it away, it stays clear and ready to use...so that was the best thing about losing my scraproom!
