Getting my head around the reservation system

Hi, as a newbie, I am just checking out all of the threads!! I came across one about difficulties booking NYE and it got me thinking about how the 11 month window works.

Is it the same process as booking ADRs, as in the longer you stay the earlier you can make reservations??

The example that I was relating it to was, I was thinking about people who are unable to get BLT at 7 months, and I was thinking, 'I would be ok, as its my home resort and I can book it at 11 month'. But...

If I say wanted just to book New Years Eve, I guess I am going to be behind those that are booking a week and arrive on 12/25 - presumably their 11 month window opens up 6 days earlier than mine???

I am not worried about it, I just wanted to check my understanding of the system!!

You are correct, first come first served.

You should buy where you love to stay. As Disney continues to add members, getting your preferred resort at certain times of the year will be limited to those who own there.

Yes, your 11 month window opens up from the day of check in.

So, BLT owners wanted to stay there over the Christmas/NYE holiday will be able to book from when their vacation starts.

Of course, as a BLT owner, you will only have, at most, a 7 day disadvantage compared to other BLT owners. That is better than those that don't own at BLT and have to wait until 7 months to book.

As many will say, owning certain resorts for certain times of the year are beneficial and I assume that BLT for NYE is going to be very popular!!

(We are not actually going for NYE - although we are hoping to be at BLT next Dec 14th, 15th & 16th for Mickeys Very Merry Christmas Party!!) - I just was using it as an example to see how the reservation system worked!!

We are going to MVMCP this year--just a trip with DH and I!!! It will be so exciting as we have not had that many!!
