Searched for answers but didn't have too much luck with recent info.

The hubby is still not exactly thrilled at the propect of packing liquor in our checked bag then taking it out to carry onto the ship the next day. He wants me to come up with alternatives to get to a liquor store or get liquor the night we stay at the MCO Hyatt. Our flight isn't due to arrive at MCO until 9:30 p.m. I definitely want to be on the first bus out to the port.

Has anyone actually done a taxi from the airport to the nearest liquor store fairly recently? Like maybe this year? How much was the cab?

We arrive on a Wednesday night. Hubby is sure liquor stores will be open until 11 p.m. or later. I have no clue. I've never attempted to visit one anywhere at that hour. LOL! Anyone know if liquor stores will still be open?

Alternatively, it'd be cool to NOT have to go get it at all. Has anyone used We Go Shop to deliver liquor to the MCO Hyatt? I think the hours we will be available to receive the delivery might be the preventative element with them even if this is something they do. So how about the Gifts by Shirley service? I wonder if they'd deliver us a couple bottles of liquor (Crown Royal & Firefly Sweet Tea Vodka) in a gift bag with some big insulated tumblers. Has anyone else ever done this?

TIA!:wave2:

The idea behind bringing your own adult beverages is to avoid the extra expense of buying them onboard. This slight savings would be negated by adding the extra expense of taking a cab, using a delivery service or ordering a gift basket. At that point, avoiding the hoop-jumping would be worth the minimal onboard expense.

Perhaps you can purchase a bottle or two from the Hyatt MCO bar? Might be worth calling to ask if that is an option.

Someone posted that the ABC Liquor Store near the airport will deliver right to your hotel...they have done it to the Hyatt. I don't believe there was a charge for the delivery, just the booze and probably a tip.

If you're at the Hyatt anyway why not just check a small bag with the alcohol, and pick it up at baggage claim, then just keep that bag with you overnight and take it to the ship? Does he just want to avoid going to luggage claim (since the cruise is the next day I think you have to get your luggage, or have Hyatt get it for you), or have you reached your bag check limit?

Or does he just not want to open the suitcase and transfer the beverages to a smaller bag?

ABC Fine Wine and Spirits is great. Sign up for online for their club card to save some extra money too. Deliver right to the Hyatt, prompt and accurate.

www.abcfws.com I used them last year. They were fabulous. We were on the 15 night Panama cruise so it was a large order, lol, but it all fit in my collapsable rolling cooler. Which the room steward kept full of ice twice a day. I am very anal about planning, so I placed the order online explicitly telling them the hotel, dates, etc. Then after I received and order number I called them to confirm. We arrived at the hotel about 4:30. The order hadnt arrived yet, but was in our room when we returned from dinner. They were wonderful, would totally use them again and again. They dont have beer but we got champagne, vodka, mixed margaritas, wine, rum, and liquers. It was $100 but I only bought 2 drinks (not including the margarita & martini tastings) the entire two weeks! I had one bottle of liquer left as well as one bottle of champagne. Because I had my receipt that I purchased in FL I went right through customs.

I hear ya and at first we were thinking we'd just wing it because it's a 3-day cruise. We rarely ever drink at home so how much would we drink, really? Well, we aren't bringing the teenagers on this little escape. In the past we drove & carried on our booze. Not uncommon for hubby & me to have 4 or 5 drinks a day. So, figuring an average of $7.50/drink after tip ((hubs has to have Crown Royal so I'm sure it won't be the lesser expensive prices)) for 4.5 drinks per day per person over 3 days we're looking at a total bar expenditure of $202.50. I'm sure we could hit a taxi & buy what we want for less than $150. Also, I want to bring the Firefly Sweet Tea vodka. I don't know that that is a bar standard and widely available onboard. If I'm drinkin' up empty calories I really would like it to be my empty calories of choice. :goodvibes

Oooohh...this could be good! Thank you!

It's just a 3-day cruise. The old man is under this crazy delusion we can pack all our clothes into 2 carryons. Hello! We're flying Southwest! We can check bags! His arguement (and I can see where he's coming from) is that we're on the last plane out of Houston that day. If our checked bags don't make it onboard there's no guarantee we'll even have them for the cruise. He speaks from experience. In January 2010 we were on the last Continental flight from IAH to MCO for a WDW trip. Our group of 6 were at the airport 2.5 hours early and checked a total of 9 items, all within the 50 lb. limit (1 suitcase for each person + 3 sets of golf clubs). Only 3 suitcases made it onboard our flight. The other 6 items were put on the first direct flight in the morning. We received them in our rooms at about 3:00 in the afternoon. If that should happen again we would be cruising minus our checked bag. I think we're a bit gun-shy on checking bags now. If you want to be sure you'll have your stuff you better be the one puting it on the plane.

By my logic, how many times have we flown, checked bags, and been fine? We had 1 nightmare out of how many possibilities? I think odds are on our side. Plus, this is Southwest over Continental. We've had more dependable service in every way from SW over the years than any other airline. But that what-if totally hangs over the old man's head. :p

Thank you for the link!!! WooHOOO!!!! :cool1:

I called all of them around the Orlando airport and they said as a company they do not do delivery. They do online purchases and then it is delivered as a package. I wonder if that is what people have done in the past. Does anyone have any experience with this?

Thank you! I am still confused. I am guessing I would just get it shipped to the hotel? Or on the shipping page where it says does that mean the store truck will deliver it even though the people on the phone told me otherwise? Here is what the website says: I appreciate everyones help

Ship to Store Truck Delivery Schedule
Delivery time for store delivery orders depends on the selected store’s truck schedule. Stores normally receive a truck on a weekly basis.

For $50 worth of hooch + $30-50 cab (round trip), you could easily bring several hundred dollars (Disney price) on-board.

Apparently, it isn't really "delivery" to the hotel. As in you call up a business (pizza, or whatever) and order something to be delivered.

It's a mail order, and the shipping address would be the hotel.

It may deliver a day or two ahead of when you actually arrive, so notifying the hotel that you have a package coming is probably a good idea.

The nearest ABC store is open until 10pm on Wednesday and opens up at 10am the next morning. Don't know about other liquor stores nearby. A cab ride there would be roughly twenty bucks each way, based on an online fare estimator. It's only six miles, but it can be slow going getting out of the airport at times.

On the Fantasy 7-day Western Caribbean trip last November, I had originally planned to take on some rum, but didn't get around to it. I signed up for the tequila and whiskey tastings, and found that was quite enough alcohol for the cruise :)

Have you considered renting a car and driving to Port Canaveral instead of using Disney Transfers? in my experience it's way cheaper and more convinient, and that way you can stop on route to pick up supplies. There are some good coupon codes out there too- try mousesavers.com - I've used some of their budget codes for MCO to Cape Canaveral. (Someone can always be dropped off at the port and check in while the other returns the car).

Here is my reply from ABCFWS from 2013-

Hello!

One of our Orlando stores does do deliveries using a local carrier service. They should be able to deliver the Hyatt at Orlando International Airport. They have in the past. You can contact them by calling (407)843-1725. Yes, we do carry Aquafina water.

My order was delivered to Hyatt MCO and was at the front desk when I checked in for the night. I think it may have been delivered the morning of or the night before (can't really remember).

Good luck!
