Getting into a park for PS when park is at capacity?

We want to do MK on Thanksgiving (EE), but doubt we will make it until dinner time (will try to get LTT or CRT). We usually take a mid-day break, so we aren't used to staying all day. We really want to eat dinner at the park (not lunch) and see all the decorations lit up. My queston is... are we going to have trouble geting back into the park for dinner (staying at WL) if the park is at capacity? Don't you have to pay a deposit for Thanskgiving meals? How could they keep you out if you've paid a deposit? Does anyone know their policy on this? How could I find out?

hmmmmmm, interesting question. Never had that come up before. here's what I do know.....

We just got back from WDW at spring break, supposedly the busiest 2 weeks all year. We had no trouble getting into a park later in the day, so the issue may not even come up.

We've had ps's for before the park opens before and all you had to do was flash your confirmation number to get in. So make sure and bring that with you. Flash it and ask to be escorted to the resturaunt if needed. Keep an eye on people leaving and point them out as having made room if neccessary.

I cant imagine the WDW, the epitomy of customer service, would turn you away, so bring your confirmation number and dont give it another thought.

If they are truely at capacity than yes you can be turned away. That is the point in taking CC's for all holiday PS's. It motivates the guests to get there. And I'm pretty sure CRO will advise you to get there early in the day. Also, for CRT, they only take VERY FEW PS's before thanksgiving day. The majority are made the day of in person at the podium and are normally booked by 10 am. (I was one of lucky girls who got to freeze while holding a clipboard for PS's on Xmas day 01!) I don't know about LTT, but I know many restaurants were going to this method as well. It's easier to let people make a PS in the am, then, as long as they don't leave the park we know they are actually in the park than make all PS's ahead of time and have some really mad people who have PS's and are being charged, but cannot get into the park.

So if you want CRT (for lunch or dinner) call 60 days from thanksgiving and try to nab the one of the few they release...if not you'll have to show up at 9 am the day off atthe podium IN PERSON! (These PS's arent even released on the DRS system, it is done by hand on paper , so you can't call in!)

Having a PS ressie does not guarantee you admittance to a park. That is determined by park capacity.

Iould think that when you have paid a deposit it would make a difference. I have a hard time believing that EVERYONE who gets there for EE will stay all day and that there won't be the same flow of people leaving after the afternoon parade like there is every other day of the year. Whe the park closes do they stop running the boats, buses, monorail, etc or do the people just wait outside the gate untill someone comes out? How does this work?

Yeah, if the park is at capacity, it doesn't matter if you have a deposit. That is the reason for the deposit. If you do not get there before the park closes to capacity (which by the way does not happen very often, but it does happen so your better safe than sorry!!) then Disney gets to keep you deposit money. It's just a matter of being aware that th possibility exists. CRO will tell you that a PS does NOT guarantee park admission when the park is at capacity. It's not a matter of being mean or whatever, its a firecode. Only so many people allowed in at a time with it still being safe for guests to exit in an emergency. I dont know what capacity is, but say it is 60k....they cannot let you family of 4 in because you have a PS because that would go over their limit. Guest service or not, it is the person with the PS who has the responsibility to make it tothe park before it closes.

I guess I will try to get as early a PS as possible. I just hope DS makes it or I will be eating Thanksgiving dinner at Roaring Forks while Disney keeps my deposit!

Thanksgiving 2002 we walked right into the MK at about 6pm. We rode Splash Mountain 4 times with out having to get off. I really wouldn't be too concearned about capacity. I have been at WDW for quite a few holidays and the only time I think there was a problem was New Years Eve. And then it didn't actually happen to me, I heard it from other park goers at EPCOT that MK was closed.
Has any one here ever actually been turned away on a holiday?

I always thought that when you stayed on site there was never a problem with being denied admittance because the park was at capacity. The parking lots may be full but you don't need to use them-take the bus, boat or monorail.

The capacity being discussed actually refers to capacity of the park. There are several stages of capacity. But if a park reaches true capacity, it is like I said before, a matter of fire codes. So if the park is truely at capacity, it does not matter where you are staying. Like I said before, if, for example capacity is 60k, and it has been reached but your family of four is staying onsite with a PS, they will not let you in because it the park is full.

ilovefh,

I asked this on my other thread, but you might know the answer. If I attempt to exit the park can the CM's working up front be able to tell me if the park is anywhere near capacity at the time?

Staying onsite has the advantage of a guaranteed park admission on holidays and full capacity days, but not necessarily the park of your choosing.

The procedure goes like this. If you arrive at the MK and it is closed due to capacity, the CM's will advise those onsite guests to proceed to (fill in the blank) park where they will be admitted.

I would say history has shown that the MK may possibly fill to capacity on T'Day. It is the highest attendance season, along with Christmas Day as well. Arrive early early early and good luck!!
