Getting into a parade?

Is there a certain way you can volunteer to be part of the WDW parades or do CM pick people out of the crowd to join them. Just wondering....

As for being parade marshals or something like that, I believe it's completely random choicing. However, the smaller "Main Street Family Fun Day Parade" at MK happens several times every day and anyone can be involved that wants to - it involves dancing, flag waving, etc.

Unfortunately the process is totally random (except for one group in the DDCT parade, if they arrive in time it would be the castle winners).

After going to AK for three years in a row my kids were always wondering how the families get picked for the parade. One day we finally asked a CM at the entrance of KS. She said it was completely random but if we stayed close by, and about 30m before the parade one of the managers of the parade comes out and picks more families if they still need them. Sure enough the manager came out and the KS Cm's told here about our desire to be in the parade and we got in. It was really fun, getting the safari vest and hat, we were on the Rafiki float, that's the first one out. After the whole parade we got out and watched the rest of the parade from right next to the gates near KS, they also gave us a disposable camara and cold water at the end.

Thanks for the information. I was always wondering about this and how you were able to get in. Thanks ;)

We were on our way to see Lion King when we were picked. We had stopped to take some pictures and a nice CM named James asked us if he would like him to take our picture he did then asked us if we were going to be in the park for awhile. We said yes and then he asked my family if we wanted to be in the parade! :goodvibes It was about an hour before the parade started.

Here are some quick and easy steps you can follow to try and get in a Disney parade.

1. Assemble 50-150 of your most musically inclined friends.
2. Pick instruments, and form a marching band.
3. Learn a few songs. Get really good at playing them.
4. Find a football field, and work on marching/choreography. (My personal favorite is a 220 BPM high-step entry, but your mileage may vary)
5. Video tape a performance
6. Send the video to Disney's Magic Music Days
7. If they like your video, they may invite you to march at Disney World.

See? Wasn't that easy?

My DD was picked to be in the DLR "Parade of Dreams" in 2000. The CMs were driving a double decker bus and were choosing people along Main St. and the castle area to be in the parade. For this particular parade, they were choosing people about 45 minutes beforehand. She went backstage to learn a little dance routine and was paired up with a Mary Poppins penguin. The segment was themed to the Noah's Ark scene from "Fantasia 2000" and she was a zebra and got to keep the cool hat that she wore. The following year a CM asked our whole family to be in the same parade. DH, DD, and DS did it, but I declined so I could take pictures. Those were memories I'll always remember. :goodvibes

:rotfl: Very cute Eric.

Several years back my ds, about 5 at the time, got picked to be in the MK afternoon parade. However, he was just picked from the crowd, danced around with some lions from Lion King and returned to us. It still was loads of fun and great memory maker:love:
