getting in a parade?

How do you get in a parade? My son wants to go in the animal kingdom parade, he has seen it many times, with the families riding on some of the “floats” how do you get this to be done?

It is a random thing from what I understand, they just pick people from crowd in the am ...I tried to request and the cm told me that's how it was done

Honestly, I think it's completely random and not something you can ask for.....it's part of the Disney magic....DH and I were the Grand Marshall's in the MGM parade (Stars and Motor Cars) while on our honeymoon. We went to Guest Services, wearing our bride and groom ears, asking for availability at 50's Prime Time for dinner. The CM asked us if we were going to be in the park around 3pm and we said yes. She then asked if we'd be the Grand Marshall's. It was a unique and fabulous experience, mostly because it was so unexpected.

It was random for us. At Disney Studios DD (4) and Dniece (7) were asked to be parade princesses and hold the rope at the end of the parade. Not as glamorous as others but they were thrilled and received a card of participation.

Not always random.....

During breakfast in the Animal Kingdom we overheard (could not help it really) a CM talking with the family there.....they were his friends and he got them into the parade that afternoon. This was a few years ago.
